Woorayl Golf Club

Woorayl Golf Club Woorayl Golf Club is located within the Leongatha Recreation Reserve in the centre of the small town of Leongatha in South Gippsland.

The golf course comprises 9 well laid out holes with some bunkers and water hazards adding to the difficulty. Regular competition days are Wednesdays (Ladies Day), Thursdays and Saturdays. A 9-hole "Chook Run" competition is held every Thursday during daylight savings. In addition to these there are open competition days throughout the year on most public holidays along with a 5 day Annual Tournam

ent in March each year. Visitors are very welcome at Woorayl with a modest green fee charged per day, regardless of the number of holes they play. The club itself boasts a proud pennant history in the South Gippsland Disctrict Golf Association with many Pennant Flags decorating the walls of the clubhouse.

We welcomed Meeniyan ladies today to play in our annual friendship day - a social ambrose event was the format and thanks to Janet Thompson for her sponsorship with the winners receiving great hamper boxes.

It was a fantastic day for winter golf fine and no wind but heavier conditions after the recent rain.

The winners of the day were the trio of Andrea Thorson, Tricia Berryman and Jean Hayes with nett 65.5.

Balls down the line to the four of Tanya Thorson, Jenny Cope, Lyn DeLaney and Elly Berryman with nett 66.5.

Thanks to our ladies who supplied a delicious shared lunch and a great day on and off the course was enjoyed by all.

Ian Balfour Medal - Vote Count & Medal Presentation

The vote count for the most sought after and prestigious Ian Balfour Medal for Woorayl's pennant player of the year will take place immediately after the days presentations for the 1st round of the club's 4BBB Championships, this Saturday night.

With our Captain and Vice-Captain both away, former Captain, Mr Tom Ryan has put his hand up to MC the event, which should not be missed.

It would be great if as many Woorayl members as possible, could please come along and support the occasion. Ian will be there to present the medal, named in his honour.

The event is expected to start at approximately 5pm.

Thanks to Marg Tuckett for her sponsorship of our secret 9 holes stableford today. There was a great field of 16 ladies.
Fortunately we all made it in before the rain arrived.

The secret holes were 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 & 18 which were 'revealed' at presentations.

Congratulations to our winners A Grade Heather Sullivan with 21 points gathering 37pts for her full round and B Grade Jo Fennell with 23 points. Jo had a fabulous 43pts for the 18 holes.
