Attention, anglers and fishing fanatics! The prestigious Leeton Bidgee Classic is on the lookout for a new President to lead our beloved event into the future. 🏆

We are thrilled to announce that all other positions for the competition have been filled, and our dedicated Vice President, who has expertly guided the competition for the past five years, will be there to offer guidance and support. Now, we need a passionate individual to step up and take charge as our President.

As the President, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the future of this long-standing fishing competition, ensuring it remains a true celebration of the sport and an unforgettable experience for participants and spectators alike. 🎉

To ensure the survival of the ever popular Leeton Bidgee Classic Fishing Competition , the AGM will be held Thursday 13th July at 7pm - Noel Hogan Centre My Plan Connect office, Kurrajong Ave, Leeton.
●New members most welcome to attend.
●All positions to be declared vacant.
●Committee members/helpers still eligible to fish in the competition.

The old bidgee crew gathered tonight and it was decided that for the Bidgee Classic to go ahead in 2024 new members are a must!

The AGM is set for Thursday 13th July, 7pm at the Noel Hogan Centre (opposite amato real estate)

Not into fishing much? But, want to be part of a great committee that loves some good quality banter, guess what? There is still a job that we need you for..... from online money handling, social media marketing, sponsorship coordination to data entry and selling merchandise on the Bidgee weekend.
Or maybe you want to help but, still fish at the comp? You can do that too!

All we need are some extra hands and new ideas ⭐️

Hi Fishos,

Unfortunately the planned 2023 Leeton Bidgee Classic is unable to proceed once again due to a number of factors.

●With current rules and regulations in place re National Parks and allowable access, we physically cannot accomodate for the numbers of campers that would stay in the parks over the event period.

● Reported Fish Kills - A number of dead fish have been removed from our waterways as the result of the recent inflow of blackwater after the floods. Our aim at the Leeton Bidgee Classic is to preserve and enhance our waterways. Placing further strain on the fishery so soon after a blackwater event is not best practice for fish stocks or the fishery.

● The Leeton Bidgee Classic committee will be holding it's AGM in March where all positions will be declared vacant. I encourage anyone that is wanting to see the BC continue to be a premier fishing event to nominate for a position or even just help out with the organisation leading up to the event.

If you are looking for a fun fishing activity for the kids during the school holidays, we have a FREE fishing workshop running from the Narrandera Fishing Centre on Wednesday 28 September. Kids and parents will be taught all the basics of fishing, including the latest rules and regulations, knot tying and rigging and casting practice, followed by by a fishing session. All fishing gear is supplied.

OzFish Unlimited along with our friends from the Inland Waterways Ozfish River Repair Bus & Tangaroa Blue will be supplying a FREE seminar tomorrow afternoon, Thursday 2nd June at the Leeton Soldiers Club from 4pm onwards to discuss all things rubbish and innovative ways to keep our waterways clean.
We will be providing some fingerfoods at the event along with around $450 in lucky door prizes to be shared amongst those in attendance.

Hi Ho Fellow Fishos'......
It is with sheer disappointment that once again, due to reason's beyond our control, that we have had to make the hard decision and cancel the 2022 Leeton Bidgee Classic.
This decision does not come easy as we were looking forward to being back bigger and better after a Covid interrupted year in 2021. The safety of our competitors, visitors, families and volunteers is paramount!
After consultation with our Insurer and several other stakeholders, it was decided that the risks associated with us holding the 2022 competition with such a high and fast flowing river, unstable river banks, inaccessible camping spots and other access issues, our committee has no choice but to cancel this years event.
Please keep an eye on our page as we will be updating you with our progress for an even bigger and bigger 2023....
