Sad news today with the passing of Ian "Serge" Miller.

When Serge arrived at East Perth in 1978, he already carried one of the great reputations in WA football — a Sandover Medallist and All-Australian from his years at Perth Football Club. He wasted no time adding to it in Royals colours, claiming a Premiership in his very first season and taking out the Simpson Medal in that Grand Final under coach Barry Cable. He backed it up with a runner-up Fairest and Best the following year.

That flag was just one chapter of an extraordinary football life. Serge went on to become a WA Football Hall of Famer, a West Coast Eagles life member, and, most fittingly for a man who cared about people first, the Eagles' player services coordinator for over two decades, looking after generations of young footballers as they left home to chase their dream.

Our thoughts are with Robyn and the Miller family.

What a season.

It hasn’t been the easiest season, but the determination, grit and hard work shown by every player throughout it has been nothing short of incredible.

And the last few weeks of finals football? Unreal.

The way our men fought, stuck together and left everything out there showed the true character and resilience of the Royals.

Our WAFLW team made some huge strides in 2026, continuing to build, develop and grow throughout the season. There’s plenty to be excited about, and we can’t wait to see what this group can achieve as they continue to improve next season.

To our players, coaches, staff, support staff, volunteers, members and incredible Royals fans- thank you. You are what makes this club so special.

Built on determination, resilience, hard work, loyalty and community, we’ve seen those values shine both on and off the field all season long.

Now we reset. We learn. We get better.

2027, we’re coming back hungry. 👑💪

100 GAME MILESTONE 👑
