Today we say farewell to Sensei Colin Tame - George Town judo club.

A true gentleman of the sport and in life.

My Elite coach for 20 years plus, the coach who made me the judo player I am. His knowledge was far beyond me in judo but the understanding and care between coach and student over the years he shared with not only myself but those he had coached/ trained we wouldn’t of had the success of it wasn’t for him.

His jokes his laughter and most of all the stories about life and judo will not be forgotten.

Our love and condolences to his wife Anneke , Sam and Alex and family.

Well it’s been an amazing 39 year journey 2 more lessons to go 😢
I’ve coached , competed at the at levels, I’ve won I’ve lost I’ve made friendships from all over the world and even local. But most of all I’ve grown as a judoka, a coach and as a dad... I have enjoyed passing my knowledge on to all who have attended my classes from kids to teens and adults...
To all those I have taught please come along next week if you like 5pm-6pm for one last throw ! Or just come say hi and bye 👋...

Well the announcement was made last night at Kuzushi Judo;

I am officially retiring from teaching judo (10years) and judo indefinitely, Ive done this fantastic martial art since I was a boy (6years). I’ve had some great coaches and not so great, being hard on me and getting the best out of me... Ive competed statewide, national and at the highest levels.
I’ve lost more competitions than I’ve won but I’ve won those that have counted. Losing a competition means I learn and grow how to Improve next time......
judo has taught me so many life skills.. you get thrown you get back up, that’s life keep going. You learn to yield even tho you don’t want to....

It’s not how I wanted to retire or finish Judo, it Tasmania Made my decision easier not being able to compete again (Thankyou).

Judo has been my outlet during my personal hardships in life (mentally & physically) especially the latter. One battle I am fighting now is Psoriasis. it now restricts my body movements when on the mat, and this is why I wear skins to protect my self aswell as those students on the mats with me.

I thanks all those whom have supported me the past ten years of coaching. I love passing on my knowledge to your kids. And I hope they to get as much out of it as what I have....
I have met and gained fantastic friendships that will last a lifetime .
So Thankyou.
