A big congratulations to all of our competitors today Tasmanian Submission Championships! You all displayed great technique, sportsmanship and courage. We had lots of great results and many lessons were learned. Super proud team !! Keep up the good work ! 👏👏

Thanks again to all the crew MMA North for putting together Tasmanian Submission Championships. It means a lot to the Tasmanian jiu jitsu community and we are very grateful for your efforts and dedication. Congratulations to all the other teams on their performances!

It’s been great to see some old faces back on the mats, sharing their experience and helping push the next generation forward.
This is Regan, or “Spence” to some. Spence is a purple belt, an outstanding grappler, and one of my good mates. We’ve trained together on and off for many years.
Over the past few years, life has kept him busy. Between ACL and meniscus injuries, running his own electrical business, and becoming a father, he’s had plenty keeping him away from the mats. It’s awesome to see him making time for jiu jitsu again.
Spence now joins a growing cohort of smaller, highly technical grapplers we’ve got training at Synergy, and I’m loving it. The smaller guys are some of the most technical people on the mats—they have to be. Their timing, movement, and efficiency are second to none, making them some of the best people to watch, train with, and learn from.
Welcome back, mate. It’s good to have you back where you belong. 🥋💪

It was a pleasure to host our first Winter In-House Kids BJJ Competition and Grading today!
A huge congratulations to Lexi, Sonny and Emma on earning their grey belts. Your hard work, dedication and positive attitude have truly paid off.
I’m incredibly proud of all of our kids today. They showed outstanding technique, great sportsmanship and plenty of courage every time they stepped onto the mats. The future of our team is looking very bright!
A big thank you to Matthew Brain, Riley Nason and Josh Shepherd for giving up your time to help out this morning. We couldn’t have done it without you. 👏❤️🥋

It was a pleasure to host a self-defense seminar tonight for a group of nurses from LGH’s Wombat Children’s Ward.
The ladies worked through a range of practical techniques, with a big focus on safely escaping pins, grabs, and holds without having to restrain an attacker. We also covered situations that can arise when dealing with aggressive patients, as well as some simple but effective strategies for staying safe when walking alone, especially at night.
Everyone deserves to feel safe in and around their workplace, and nurses are unfortunately often exposed to challenging situations that can put them at risk. It was great to see everyone taking their personal safety seriously and being so willing to learn.
Thanks for putting in the effort tonight, ladies. You all did a fantastic job, and I hope you walked away with some valuable skills and a little more confidence. 😊💪
