Retirement Announcement 📢
Linda Tigani has announced her retirement from Lara United FC at the end of the season.
We will celebrate her retirement at the end of the year at Gold Medal Night and also the AGM, but in the meantime please feel free to leave your comments below.
From Linda:
After much thought I have decided after 17 years of being involved with our club to hang up my apron and retire from my volunteer positions. I have struggled with this decision for a while as I truly do love the club and have made some lifetime friends.
Having not had any of my lads playing at the club for the past four years I feel it is time for others to step up, and I am looking forward to spending time relaxing with my family, friends and travelling with Gino.
My journey as a soccer mum began in 2009, when my eldest said he wanted to play then his two brothers joined when they were old enough. I have also become a “soccer” mum to many over the years and had the privilege of watching these youngsters grow both on and off the pitch.
We were Lara Soccer Club all those years ago, a division of the Lara Sporting Club. Not long after becoming a member I soon became a team manager, helping with junior fundraising and put my hand up to be on the junior committee.
Over the years my roles have been varied but always rewarding. I have been a general committee member since the establishment of Lara United Football Club in 2016. The growth of our members saw our buildings and facilities grow to the wonderful club we are today.
I have worn many hats over the years and sometimes multiple at the same time. Various team manager positions (Miniroos, junior and local men’s teams), brief coaching gig of under 7’s, Miniroos assistant and then co-ordinator for many years. I remember the huge Miniroo hub days we would host and the work that was required to run them, but they were fantastic days! We had a lot of volunteers and many of them are now friends. Then there was fundraising, canteen and bar manager, security, cleaning and pest control overseer. Many of you may have travelled in my “venga bus” to and from training and games or ferried home after a club functions.
I have been honoured to be named Club Person of the Year in 2016 and again in 2022. I received my life membership in 2024.
An enormous amount of work goes on behind the scenes to keep our club running and teams on the pitch every week. Without volunteers this cannot happen. I would like to thank our current and past committee members for their support and commitment to Lara United.
