Joanne O'Kelly School of Dance is one of the state’s prem

JOKSOD is a place where students feel welcome, relaxed and confidant to blossom in their classes, where they make lifelong friendships, where their dreams are realised and ignited and where they build important life skills that sets them on a pathway to thrive in their futures. We endeavour to instil the love of dance and provide a positive experience for every student from our aspiring 3 year olds through to our advanced level students. We foster correct and safe dance techniques in young bodies and provide a high level of training in all genres with a focus on wellbeing. We strive for every student to be the best that they can be and make sure we all have lots of fun along the way! Classes are conducted professionally by well trained teachers in classical ballet, Pre-School dance, jazz, musical theatre, contemporary, pilates strength and conditioning. At JOKSOD we value:

• Family: At JOKSOD we are a supportive dance community, like a second family to each other.
• Dedication: We are dedicated to our craft and ask the same of our dancers.
• Artistry: We practice safe technique, to support young bodies and we focus on high quality training for our students to bring out the artist within.

✨ TROUPE WEEKEND West Gippsland Dance Festival ✨

What a weekend! 💕 Our JOKSOD troupe dancers took to the stage at the West Gippsland Dance Festival, and we couldn’t be more proud of them!

There’s something pretty special about troupe, it’s not just about what happens on stage. It’s all the preparation and working together as a team and rehearsals, camaraderie, support and being together to bring something spectacular in a performance. And our teams smashed it this weekend!

To every dancer who performed this weekend, you should be so proud of the commitment, energy and heart you brought to the stage. Watching you support each other and celebrate each other’s achievements was just as wonderful as watching you perform. 💫

A huge thank you to our incredible teachers and choreographers for their creativity, patience and dedication, and to our JOKSOD families for everything that happens behind the scenes to get our dancers on stage. ❤️

And of course, a big thank you to the West Gippsland Dance Festival team for another wonderful weekend of dance and for giving our dancers the opportunity to perform, connect and grow.

✨JOKSOD Transition Program is evolving for 2027✨

We’re excited to introduce a refreshed JOKSOD Transition Program (JTP), designed to support dancers at different stages of their development.

From 2027, JTP will offer two levels:

🌟 JTP Intermediate | Ages 9–11
A new half-day program running several times each term, focused on building strong foundations, confidence, strength and positive training habits.

🌟 JTP Senior | Ages 12+
Our intensive pathway for dancers ready to take their training further, develop their technique and artistry, and explore the possibility of full-time dance training or a future in the performing arts.

✨Teaching Faculty
Led by ex-Principal dancer at The Australian Ballet, Amy Harris, who brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to provide an advanced level of teaching to our program

JTP is about giving dancers the skills, experience and confidence to discover their potential and make informed decisions about their own pathway, when the time is right.

Behind every dancer is a village… and today, we’re celebrating the dads who are right there beside them! 🕺🩰

The early morning starts.
The endless trips to and from the studio. 🚗
The bun-making attempts. 😜
