As a personal trainer in a small town, the pressure of what is expected of you becomes big. Both mentally and physically.
A few years ago, I took on the journey of running a 1/2 marathon (running is not my strong point) with through online coaching. This was an absolute game changer. My running improved, my times got quicker and I ended up running 3 x 1/2 marathons in a 6 week period.
Fast forward a few years, I’ve taken a step back from running for the usual excuses such as family commitments with the kids, work, training my horse etc and just threw an occasional run in where I could.
With run the rock less than 2 weeks away and the run being in our own backyard, I decided after much of a mental argument to just run the 5km. Mentally I think it’s the easy way out as I havnt trained for the 13.5km and I know dam well the elevation this run includes and part of me is kicking myself for not putting the effort in to get that done, but as I tell all of my clients “something is better than nothing”.
So with that in mind, I signed up for the 5km, will make it a fun run, enjoy the scenery, company and the run itself and move forward from there with running progress.
So if your wanting to give it ago and havnt done much, sign up, walk if you need and just get the body moving 🏃♀️ 🏃♂️ 🪨
