, in his role as distributor, for keeping our boards grippy at Lano Back Beach with Hueys Choice Surf Wax. Weeksy generously donated wax for the Competitor handouts and the finalist prizes so that more $ could go toward the Lancelin Boardriders. And, if you were lucky enough to win a prizes of Sunglasses or a Wax Buddy wax comb, those too were generously donated by Weeksy! He doesn't just talk the talk (which he does well!), he walks the walk and we are super grateful for his amazing contributions! Cheers, Sam

The only group I haven’t mentioned are those who have become part of the fabric of WA Longboarding. Starting with Samantha Vanderford for coming up with the idea of a comp in Lancelin to enable the Triple Crown to go ahead for 2022, and her many hours and days of work getting all the behind the scenes stuff sorted. Without her cracking the whip, we wouldn’t have had an event.
Then of course Georgia Young as the longboard rep for surfing WA, getting approvals and also helping tirelessly throughout the weekend with judging and assisting the Long Groms.
Surfing WA themselves need a special mention for getting behind the event and supplying gazebos which kept us out of the sun (and the rain on Sunday!)
Special thanks to Martin Richardson and Terry Goddard for coming along purely to help, as they were not able to surf this weekend.
Scotty Trew is out injured, but that didn’t stop him from bringing the family along and pitching in to help out in any way he could, even though he’s on crutches and in a leg brace. Bloody legend, would have won at least one division if he was competing, must have been hard to be stuck on the beach watching. And of course his lovely wife Katy was filling any gaps left in the helpers crew.
All the Long Grom helpers; Mark Matisons, Pedro Le Grice, Georgia Young, Lindsay Small, Jade Foster, Ryan Clark, James McGee, Benjamin Pavy, David Dandois and Steve Becker. The smiles on the kids faces made all the effort worthwhile.
Belinda Le Grice stepped into the timing and flags role, and of course my legend mate Terry Trathen came up to take photos, talk story and assisted with packing down and unloading all the gear from my heavily sand infested car.

If I’ve forgotten anyone, please accept my apologies, I took the day off yesterday to recover and my faculties are only just starting to return 😂 We really appreciate all the help and assistance from the WA Longboarding Community, you guys are the best, all heart and community spirit. I couldn’t be prouder to have you all in my little town to show the locals that longboarders are just the best!!

Heaps of photos coming through, please tag and share and maybe - just maybe - we can do it all again next year.

Love yas all!
Weeksy

RAFFLE PRIZE DRAW:
At the presso, a random note was drawn from a pile of cash, the last two digits being the winning number for the Radiator Blue Line Wetsuit. That number was 71, the second ticket number sold, and also the year I was born. And because I already get free wetsuits from Radiator, I put the wetsuit back up to the cries of ”Redraw!”, which saw another number draw, sending a new wetsuit home with James McGee. Then it was time for the big one, the 9’8” Beau Young ”Re-evolution” model from The Surfboard Warehouse Osborne Park. It couldn’t have been scripted better, with one of the groms choosing a bank note ending in 16, which meant our hard working head judge for the weekend, Georgia Jess, took home a new board for her troubles. Thanks for all who bought a raffle ticket over the weekend, the money raised goes straight to Lancelin Boardriders fund raising efforts.

What a great event! Despite the last minute rain, we managed to get a lot of surfing done over the weekend, all competitors and judges should be super proud, along with our pool of helpers and assistants from the Lancelin Boardriders crew. Of course, this event would not have been half as successful without our sponsors, so I wish to thank (in no special order, just as I list them in my brain), the following list of generous and supportive businesses. Please make sure to spend your money with those who support our sport. And as I mentioned at the presentations, everyone I approached in town said yes to help me out. So any businesses that aren’t on this list, it’s simply because I never asked them. We had so many prizes and goodies to give away, that there are actually some left over. Thanks so much Lancelin, you’ve made an old man very proud this weekend.

Major out of town Prize Sponsors:
The Surfboard Warehouse Osborne Park (Jamie & Steve)
Radiator wetsuits (Bob Lushey)

T-shirt’s for event staff were supplied free of charge by Nathan at Screen Printing Australia (if there is enough interest we can have additional shirts printed at very reasonable rates for those who would like one)

Printing of stickers, posters and certificates was done by Jase at Minuteman Press Perth

Major sponsor: LBH Lancelin Beach Hotel thanks Nola and Mick for letting us take over the public bar last night, as well as the generous cash donation which enabled us to purchase sausages, drinks and other goodies which meant no overheads for the BBQ

Local sponsors:
Annie and Steve at the Lancelin IGA for giving us a nice chunky credit to purchase necessities for the sausage sizzle as well as some of the coolest prizes (including fishing gear and surfer Joe thongs)
Darren, Mica and Kaz at Have a Chat General Store for the HDAS dip awards and 6044 pins
Baz and Cindee @ Bazindees for the free pizzas and discount vouchers, keeping the competitors fed
Linley & Georgia from Barefoot Beach Boutique for the super cool prize pack
Kate Fielder & all her team from Lancelin Surf Shop for their ongoing support of LBR and awesome prize donations (and for providing the best co-commentator in Izzie)
Sharon at the CRC, what a legend, some of the most sought after prizes were your locally themed merchandise
Cliff & Alysa from Lancelin Mechanical (you went over and above sis)
Anna & Ian from Lancelin Timber & Hardware for not only the clever prizes but also the free gas bottle fills for the BBQ
Experience Lancelin Holiday Park were pretty much booked out but offered a discount for competitors on powered sites so thanks Jamie and management
Geoff at the Lancelin Tip helped out with some of the novelty awards, and actually suggested a couple of them which were hilarious so thanks Geoff for your help. This was also where the much-fabled Golden Helmet for the best Head Dip of the event was sourced
Sheree from The Juicy Box was on hand with her delicious beverages all weekend (the mocha this morning was a life saver)
We got a great deal on the sausage sizzle rolls thanks to an ongoing relationship between Lancelin Boardriders and Henry from Lancelin Bakery Bakery
The always professional and helpful staff at Bendigo Bank kept the judges in premium pens all weekend (although I don’t think they actually believed me at first when I burst in on Friday asking if they had any pens I could have 😂)
Even the onions were donated by Loose Leaf Lettuce Company
Simone’s sister Deanne at Northern Valley Fruit Pops donated a heap of healthy icy poles, and Huey’s Choice supplied wax, wax combs, and Ask Huey sunglasses.

All of these donations and contributions reduced the cost of running the event, meaning more money raised for LBR.

Also saving the club money were those providing contest services for free, from judges to timers to flag changers, rubbish collectors, sausage cookers etc etc

Thank you one and all!!
