Avril and Treasured Nadal (Pheonix) had their first day out together at the Mansfield Pony Club Eventing Clinic. Thanks to the organisers and coaches for a great couple of days. Pheonix is everything the Altmann/Hercules family said he would be and we are very grateful. He is an amazing talent and is like a big horse in a 14 hand high package. He has been beautifully trained and the care and love given shows in Pheonix’s always generous nature. It's been 6 months now and I know he is missed. They are a perfect match, Avril is a gentle and considerate rider and Pheonix is a gentle and considerate pony. Avril gave Pheonix a carrot and Pheonix gave Avril a kiss.

WITHDRAWN FROM SALE -
Why - Avril’s perfect other 15 hand high horse has had a surprise ECVM diagnosis. We hadn't checked him as he had absolutely no signs but he has been sticky into canter and we were completing X-Xraying the entire brood mare herd, comp horse group and 3 year olds and he was there so we thought we better check just in case. It's mild and only on one side but I have only one child and I have other horses. Harry will retire to help raise foals and hopefully he can live out a relatively pain free life. I rode his grandmother, I bred his mother, I foaled him down and I had him perfectly trained for my daughter. All the best plans go out the window with horses and as I write I am shedding a tear. But we have Jack. The understudy just got the leading role. Sorry to everyone that was lined up to see Jack but Sam has been trying to get everyone up to date with the news.

About JACK
Jack was purchased as a 5-year-old in 2016 as a future prospect for my then 3-year-old daughter, Avril van Eyk.
He was carefully trained and, at 6 years old, was lent to Kate Tompson. Kate was 12. Kate’s mum is our friend and vet. You get the picture – ridden by a child and supported by professionals, cared for by a vet.

Kate and Jack had a very successful partnership; the combination was unbeatable in pony club dressage and climbed to Grade 1 (Advanced).
Kate took Jack out to HRCAV and EA competitions and was always well performed.
Jack loves trail riding and has been hacking around the high country and on the roads.

He is perfect to travel, he has perfect ground manners he has NO vices. HE IS PERFECT. As would be expected from his breeding, Jack is highly talented.
When Kate left for university, Jack lost his rider. Kate has done an incredible job with Jack. He has been cared for, nurtured, trained and loved. He has given much in return; Jack is in his prime. He is the perfect small horse. He is currently extending his knowledge and training with Samantha Bingham in Chirnside Park, Victoria.

So why is he for sale? Why would we go to all that planning and effort and sell him before Avril was ready? Well, all those years ago we thought to double our chances, and we have two Diamond Hit 15-hand high perfect geldings. One we bred and one we purchased. Jack is the one we didn’t breed. We didn’t expect we could be that lucky but we are. It is fair to say we have agonised over the decision, but Avril does not need both. Jack is training with Samatha Bingham and is ready to find his new person.

This is Lovey (Le Lover) he's just turning 3 and has been chilling in the hills at our Merrijig breeding farm. He is by Le Formidable and from our amazing mare Nava De Jeu. Nava is the daughter of world famous parents, Sisther De Jeu and Vitalis. Right now, Lovey is learning to leave his best friend and having an introduction to the type of gear he will wear in the future. He has a full bother or sister on the way, due Jan 2024. The hopeful plan is Lovey will be our next stallion.

Boudie is a very well known and well preformed show pony. He has competed at the Royals with great success, dressage, PC, Interschools you name it he's done it. Originally educated and competed by professional riders he then served his time as a child's pony carrying his small riders to success. Our requirement was a pony who was well known and reliable who would assist with the development of correct riding.
A educated pony that knew his job. We aren't a show family but we wanted a pony who had been there and done that. When we heard Boudie was available we purchased him straight away, he came highly recommended. These ponies rarely come up. He's done his job for us, he took Avril to pony club, trail riding, XC, a little low level jumping and even a local show.

Boudie is a seasoned competitor in both Interschools and on the show scene with multiple accolades to his name. Have a Google and you will find him with his previous families.

Vitalis is a maker of GP horses. We love Vitalis as a sire, he creates rideable horses with talent and balance. Locally two of the the champion horses at DSJWTS 2024 were Vitalis progeny.

After a suitable separation period and the purchase of a larger pony or two, Avril van Eyk is now ready to part with her two smaller ponies -

Pony 1 - Fairlight Acres Tigger. SOLD

Tigger has taught many children the ropes. He is an exceptional little guy and before us he was with a show home and had great success; Smartest On Parade, Rider Championships & his class wins at Agricultural shows including Champion Rider at VASA. We’ve been reliably informed he and his previous rider won the Owner Rider Small Pony and both the Owner Rider & Child's best educated pony.
He has attended pony club, he goes on trail rides, he can jump and is a talented dressage pony & successfully competed at interschools.
He has also previously qualified and competed at EA Nationals. He was sold to us as fuss free and he really is. Avril started with Tigger lead rein when she was 5 and he carted her through Covid lock downs and kept her entertained. He has helped her learn to canter and we are grateful to Tigger for giving Avril a fabulous start. He has an impressive show trot and he is a very attractive little guy.

Milli is a super confident pony and we really love her trot rhythm, she helped Avril in gaining an independent seat. Milli was purchased from a local showjumping family and had been passed along through friends she has been a show horse and a pony club horse. Avril took her out XC and they would go out as far as the eye could see and beyond and Milli would bring Avril back happy and smiling. Mili jumps and is a delight but in Spring and Summer we have found best to give her a couple of days off when she’s in season, she is very distracted and the bodily excretions are too much for the arena surface to cope with.
Milli is an attractive pony with excellent confirmation. Milli only has one eye but the one she has works really well.
We purchased her with the eye missing and besides running into bending poles if her little riders aids are a bit inaccurate she copes really well and taught Avril to take the time to consider what Milli can and can’t see and plan where she was going so as to help Milli.
She will turn her head a little to get a good look at things but then is straight at it. She is a brave little lady and is a fabulous all rounder.

Tigger is priced at 12 and Milli at 7.

Well look at this! There is a bottle of very delicious Champagne for the highest scoring Van Eyk Horse on offer. We've had 4 Van Eyk Horses compete at the one competition before but 4 in one class is something new. We are very pleased for their owners. - Edit - Van Eyk TuTu is in the 4.3 so 5 medium horses. The Champagne and Gin bar will be open at the Van Eyk truck.
