Nature gives (rain) and nature takes away (dead trees with rotten roots). Timber! Between the 10th and 14th fairways another silent sentinel has given way, making the path to the 14th green that little easier if you're coming from the 10th. Quite a few have fallen in recent months, going on to warm the clubhouse plus the hearts of wayward golfers! Also probably not a good idea to stand too close to the few remaining skeletons!

Play returned to the course with a bang on Saturday as Jason Mcclure hung on for a one-shot victory in the 54-hole Rennick Trophy. Tom May started with seven pars to erase a three-shot deficit but couldn't maintain the pace, while Ka$h made up eight shots on the front nine and finished with a nett 67 to win the daily top flight and tie for third overall. McClure had the luxury of two putts from 12 feet (pic 2) to reclaim the trophy 11 years after his first.

57mm of rain overnight had to go somewhere and unfortunately it's settled over a few fairways. The course will be closed until another assessment is made on Friday to avoid unnecessary damage while the drains flow and the fairways suck up all they can. Now, about that warm, dry winter we were going to have!

Just how we like it ... sun out, skippies mowing the fairways, greens in mint condition, wind taking a rest and no one in a rush. It's time to tee off in Kyneton again!

Into the breach ... bizarre start to the round today with thick fog blanketing the fairways. It was impossible to see the green from 120m out, until it started to lift about 11am. Then the wind picked up, the temperature dropped and finally rain came for the last few holes for the late starters. Jason Mcclure and Peter Kewniuk were best of the men with 36 points apiece, Kylie Munro led the women with 35, and two tight semi-finals were played in the CC Fisher doubles matchplay. Top seeds Thomas Beachey and Braeden Cottingham beat 4th seeds Regan Williams-Jason Coley 1-up, while 7th seeds Simon Rosenberg-Kash Karunasena knocked over 6th seeds Cam Hendy-Mick McQualter 3&2.

The course is open, the sun's out, the greens are pure and the game is on. Winner takes all in the Sunday scramble, or just pop in for a casual hit. No carts today but they should be back for the women's medal on Tuesday and for the open Wednesday stableford. ☀️

The only tree that fell on the course during the heavy winds on Wednesday night was this big unit (well, half of it anyway) on the 16th hole. Braeden and Jack started the cleanup this morning before this masked crusader swept in and started slicing and dicing the trunk. Any guesses who (pic 2)?

The dams are full! Tuesday's deluge has our dams running over ... out the back and into Post Office Creek. The fairways were saturated on Tuesday and with more rain forecast today and tomorrow the decision was made to close the course to ensure it's in the best condition possible for Saturday's monthly medal. We'll re-evaluate on Friday morning whether play is possible any earlier.
