Podium Success at Kalgoorlie!
The long haul from Bunbury to Kalgoorlie proved well and truly worthwhile for Diamond Bay Motorsport, with the team returning home with a strong podium result.
Callum Williamson and the Diamond Bay Motorsport crew were quick from the outset, qualifying third with an impressive 13.120 lap. That performance placed the W26 on the front row for the heat race, starting from position two. However, an early jump on the initial start saw Callum penalised two positions, forcing him to fight back from fourth.
Undeterred, Callum launched brilliantly, charging from fourth to second to salvage valuable points despite the setback. Strong results across qualifying and the heats positioned the Geotech / Devil Race Karts Sprintcar sixth overall, earning a start from position three in the B Dash.
Callum made his intentions clear immediately in the Dash, sweeping to the lead through turns one and two and controlling the race from there.
Starting from second in the feature, Callum showed excellent pace early, leading the opening laps before the eventual race winner found speed on the bottom groove. Continuing to push the high line in pursuit, Callum remained firmly in the fight, though the battle for grip opened the door for another challenger.
In a hard-fought race, Callum traded positions between second and third before ultimately securing a well-earned third-place finish and another podium for the team.
The team now turns its attention to the journey back to Bunbury, preparing for the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series Grand Final at Perth Motorplex this Saturday.
