Well season 2025/2026 is over , a bittersweet moment for me as I promised Alex he can have a crack next season. Bittersweet because we finally started to work out car setup and gain some speed and confidence throughout the season.
Bittersweet because I’ve just started driving with confidence , finally! Bittersweet because I’m really excited to support and guide Alex on his journey.
It’s been a roller coaster ride over the last 6 or 7 years but being able to see the growth in my two Sons Alex and Charlie into the great young men they are becoming is worth everything . We started this journey as a family and we continue on as a family with Alex in the seat .
One of my childhood dreams was to go racing with my old man and we finally got to tick that one off ! Dad’s been with us helping out where he could for the last couple of years building his relationships with Alex Charlie and I .
Gotta thank my wife Paula for supporting us in this journey and holding the fort so we could bu**er off racing . Sadly her work commitments has restricted her being able to be with us a lot but she’s always supported what we were doing and coming along when she could .
Again we’ve had some great support along the way with

Rentech Plant & Energy
Mandurah Diesel

Peel Mowers & Chainsaws
And appreciate everything they have done to keep us going and look forward to their continued support into the future .
As much as my driving journey is taking a backseat , we are extremely excited for Alex’s journey to start and all the experiences that will bring?
Thanks everyone
Gav

Des Nash Memorial race last night at the Perth Motorplex was a great night for the team .
We timed 5th in our group which put us out of P5 in our heat . After dropping a position at the start we managed to get back to 5th on a hammer down track .
We just missed the transfer to the A main , but that put us out of P2 in the Bmain . Got a great start and lead the B for a few laps which was a thrill but got passed by a couple of cars after making some small mistakes and then with about 5 laps to go developed a miss which slowed us down a bit and let 1 more car through but managed to hang on to 4th and make it onto the back of the A main.
We were chuffed to make the A but starting out of 28 was going to be a challenge so the goal was to stay out of trouble, keep on the lead lap and gain some more experience. Unfortunately we got lapped but we made it to the end with a straight car and an exhausted driver!🤣
I don’t believe I’ve driven that hard just to keep up , with the quality of field we’re extremely happy with the speed we have in the car to be able to compete with these guys .
Again gotta thank the people that help me get better each time we go out

DOIN’ IT FOR DES!

This Wednesday night, the Perth Motorplex throws open its doors for a truly special midweek show, headlined by the 10th annual Des Nash Memorial.

First run in the 2015/16 season and claimed by Tom Payet, the event has grown into one of the most prestigious races on the Wingless Sprint calendar. Held in honour of ‘The Outlaw’ Des Nash, the Memorial has been staged at several venues across Western Australia, continuing to celebrate a man whose influence still resonates throughout the sport today.

Des Nash was a true speedway stalwart. As a founding member of the Australian Wingless Sprint Racing (AWSR) group, he served as Vice President in its second year and held the role until his passing. He also contributed as a State Technical Representative. Nash’s passion and dedication played a major role in shaping the class, not only through his administrative work, but by welcoming new competitors and offering guidance to anyone who needed it. It’s that legacy that makes this event such a meaningful one each season.

Wednesday night’s field is stacked, with all but one former winner set to line up. Three-time winner Tom Payet returns, alongside two-time victors Matthew Iwanow, fresh off an incredible charge through forty cars across two races last Saturday, and defending race winner Blake Iwanow (Australia #2). Former winner Luke Weel (2019) and 2024 victor Brendon Wedge are also in the field.

Freshly crowned back-to-back Australian Champion Tyson Martin will be one to watch now that he’s found his groove on the high banks of the Motorplex, while Australia #3 Travis Armstrong will be looking to continue his outstanding form.

Daran Humfrey returns with unfinished business after leading more than half of the National Title A-Main before a heartbreaking DNF. Others, including Chris Temby, Blake Walsh, Carly Walsh and Ryan Mitchell, will also be eager to bounce back after tough ends to their Title campaigns.

Add in the likes of Blake Woolf, James Bissaker, Peter Granger and David Worrall, who didn’t contest the Australian Title, along with John Egan, rumoured to debut a brand-new car after last weekend’s rollover, and a host of drivers determined to turn their form around, and the stage is set for a huge night of racing.

Despite nominations closing prior to last weekend’s Australian Title, a strong 60 entries have been received. Drivers are reminded that if they need to withdraw, they should contact the Motorplex as soon as possible.

A unique format will be used for the event. A pill draw will determine qualifying groups, which in turn set heat race grids with a four-car invert. Points from all groups will then be combined, with the top twenty drivers split into odds and evens for the A and B Dashes, deciding the inside and outside rows for the feature. Positions 21 onwards will also be split into odds and evens to contest two B-Mains.

With a legendary figure being honoured and the incredible standard of racing seen last weekend expected to continue, Wednesday night’s Des Nash Memorial is shaping as one not to miss.

Unlucky Night 1 at the Aus Title

Bit of a disappointing end to our night to say the least, finished 6th in both our heats to line up out of 11 in the prelim.

Unfortunately into the first turn Gav got tagged at the rear and spun which led to a stoppage, was deemed primary cause and got sent to the rear. Bit confusing getting sent to the rear on a full restart for a stoppage that wasn’t Gavs fault.
Went to the rear and restarted last, a couple laps in a car was slowing in front of Gav and had nowhere to go, unfortunately just clipped the left front which bent the front end resulting in a DNF.

The team has got the car all fixed and ready to go for tonight and hopefully we can get to the A!

We’ve got 1 Heat to qualify tonight and sit 45th in points so fingers crossed we go alright
