What a week in Andradas! 🇧🇷
The 25th FAI Pre-Worlds Hang Gliding Championship has come to an end, and Pico do Gavião delivered everything we could have hoped for: incredible flying, demanding conditions, tight competition, and an amazing gathering of pilots from around the world.
And what a result for Brazil.
🇧🇷 Álvaro “Nenê Rotor” Figueiredo Sandoli took the Open Class title with an impressive 2,565.7 points, leading an incredible Brazilian performance on home soil.
The Open Class podium:
🥇 Álvaro Figueiredo Sandoli - Brazil
🥈 Jonny Durand - Australia
🥉 Glauco Pinto - Brazil
Brazil also placed four pilots inside the final Open Class Top 5, with Guilherme Croce Sandoli finishing 4th and Max Turiaco 5th.
In the Sport Class, José Luís Jaramillo claimed the victory.
The Open Class podium:
🥇 José Luís Jaramillo - Mexico
🥈 Douglas Hale - USA
🥉 Alfred Daniel Blanco Avila - Guatemala
But beyond the results, this week was about something bigger.
Pilots sharing the sky, pushing each other, discovering Andradas, and experiencing one of Brazil’s most spectacular flying sites together.
Every day brought another story, even Jonny Durand building a brand new RX4 Pro for Robert Etzold on takeoff while everyone watched.
Another reminder of why we love this sport.
A huge congratulations to all the pilots, organisers, volunteers, officials and everyone behind the scenes who made this Pre-Worlds possible.
Andradas has now given us a taste of what’s coming.
2027 World Championships — we can’t wait. 🔥
