Nobody tells women this…

One day you wake up and your body feels different.

The weight is harder to lose.

Your joints ache.

Your energy disappears.

The workouts that used to work… don’t.

So you assume you’ve become lazy.

Or that you’re getting old.

Or that your body has given up.

But what if none of that is true?

What if your body isn’t failing you…

It’s simply asking for something different?

Less punishment.

More strength.

More food.

More recovery.

More muscle.

More compassion.

I wish more women knew that strength training isn’t about lifting the heaviest weight in the room.

It’s about building a body that carries you confidently through the next 30 or 40 years of your life.

Your body isn’t the problem.

It’s been trying to tell you what it needs all along.

One of the biggest mistakes I see women make in their 50s and 60s…

Their joints start aching.

Their knees hurt.

Their hips feel stiff.

Their shoulders become cranky.

So they stop or feel scared too start strength training and start Pilates or yoga instead.

Now before anyone gets upset…

I love Pilates.

I love yoga.

Both have incredible benefits.

But here’s the problem:

Many women assume their joints hurt or will hurt because they’re lifting weights.

In reality, joint aches often become more common as estrogen declines during perimenopause and menopause.

So strength training gets blamed for a problem it didn’t create.

In fact, strong muscles help support and protect your joints.

Which means the very thing many women stop doing is often the thing they need most.

The goal isn’t to train harder.

The goal isn’t to push through pain.

The goal is to build enough strength that life feels easier.

Getting off the floor.

Carrying groceries.

Lifting grandkids.

Travelling.

Living independently.

Pilates and yoga can absolutely be part of the solution.

But they shouldn’t replace strength training altogether.

Have you noticed more aches and pains as you’ve gotten older?

I’d love to hear your experience.

šŸ‘‹ Hi, we’re Erin and Dan.

If you’re new to Sunny Coast Bootcamp, we thought we’d introduce ourselves and share why this little community exists.

A lot of people assume we started Sunny Coast Bootcamp because we love fitness.

That’s only part of the story.

The real reason we started Sunny Coast Bootcamp is because we’ve seen firsthand how much exercise can change someone’s life.

Not just physically.

We’ve watched people become stronger, more confident, make new friends, improve their mental health and start believing in themselves again.

Before moving to the Sunshine Coast, we owned a functional fitness gym in Sydney for seven years.

During that time we learned something important:

Most people don’t need a harder workout.

They need a place where they feel comfortable enough to keep showing up.

A place where they aren’t worried about keeping up.
A place where they aren’t judged.
A place where they can train at their own pace and still feel like they belong.

That’s what Sunny Coast Bootcamp was built on.

Today our community is made up of people in their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond.

Some are running their first 5km.
Some are training for half marathons.
Some are learning how to strength train for the very first time.

And some simply want the energy and strength to enjoy life.

We believe all of those goals matter.

So if you’ve recently started following us, welcome.

We’re not a gym.

We’re not a traditional bootcamp.

We’re just a community of everyday people showing up, getting stronger and supporting each other along the way.

🌿 Not a gym person?

To be honest, a lot of our members aren’t either.

They don’t want mirrors.
They don’t want egos.
They don’t want to be screamed at through a workout.

They just want to feel stronger, have more energy, and move their bodies in a way that actually fits into real life.

That’s exactly why Sunny Coast Bootcamp exists.

Every week I meet people who tell me:

ā€œI need to get fitter before I start.ā€
ā€œI’ll join when life settles down.ā€
ā€œI’ll wait until the weather warms up.ā€

But life never really slows down, does it?

And waiting rarely makes us feel stronger, fitter or healthier.

That’s why we’re running a 21-Day Kickstart.

Not a detox.
Not a punishment.
Not a challenge that leaves you exhausted.

Just 21 days to focus on yourself.

āœ” Build consistency
āœ” Improve your fitness
āœ” Get stronger
āœ” Boost your energy
āœ” Feel more confident in your body

We meet you where you’re at.

Whether you haven’t exercised in years, you’re getting back into a routine, or you’re simply looking for a supportive community to train with.

At Sunny Coast Bootcamp you’ll find:

ā˜€ļø Early morning & afternoon sessions
šŸ’Ŗ Strength-focused training
šŸƒ Fitness sessions that don’t leave you feeling smashed
ā¤ļø A welcoming community of everyday locals

Most of our members never imagined they’d actually enjoy exercise.

Now it’s one of the best parts of their week.

šŸ“… 21-Day Kickstart starts Monday 8th June

ā€œMy mindset has done a complete 360.ā€

When Kristin first started at Sunny Coast Bootcampļæ¼ in January, she couldn’t do one burpee…

Not because she didn’t care.
Not because she wasn’t trying.
She just genuinely didn’t believe in herself.

She said her mindset used to be:
ā€œpoor meā€¦ā€

And honestly? I think a lot of people quietly feel like that when they first start exercising again.

Embarrassed.
Defeated.
Convinced they’re too unfit to belong.

I remember Kristin feeling nervous even attempting burpees….and we never forced her either. #

Fast forward 10 weeks…

She’s now doing EIGHT burpees.

But more importantly?

Her whole mindset has shifted.

Instead of:
ā€œI can’t do thisā€¦ā€

It’s now:
ā€œGet yourself together and give it a go.ā€

That’s the stuff people don’t always see from the outside.

Yes, the strength improves.
Yes, the fitness improves.

But the biggest transformation is often the way people start speaking to themselves.

And THAT changes everything. šŸ’›

This is why we do what we do.

This might surprise you…

More training is not always better.

Most of us grew up hearing:
āŒ Go hard or go home
āŒ No pain no gain
āŒ You need to give 100% every session

But your body doesn’t get stronger during training…

It gets stronger AFTER training.

Training creates stress.
Recovery is where the magic happens ✨

That’s why recovery matters so much:
āœ”ļø repairing muscle tissue
āœ”ļø replenishing energy
āœ”ļø calming the nervous system
āœ”ļø adapting to training
āœ”ļø rebuilding stronger

And this is where a lot of people get stuck…

Because when they feel flat, exhausted or unmotivated…
they think:

šŸ‘‰ ā€œI need to push harder.ā€

But sometimes the stronger decision is actually:
šŸ‘‰ ā€œI need to recover better.ā€

Have you ever:
• trained hard for weeks and suddenly crashed?
• felt exhausted all the time?
• craved sugar constantly?
• picked up niggles and injuries?
• felt like your body just wasn’t bouncing back?

That’s often your body waving a little white flag 🚩

At Sunny Coast Bootcamp we talk about this ALL the time…

You do NOT need to train at 100% intensity every single session.

In fact… I’d argue you shouldn’t.

Some days your body is ready to push.
Some days your body just needs movement.

Learning the difference is one of the most valuable skills you can develop.

For most adults, especially in midlife, this is actually a pretty amazing balance:

āœ”ļø 2 structured strength/conditioning sessions per week
āœ”ļø walking & general movement
āœ”ļø good sleep
āœ”ļø good nutrition
āœ”ļø consistency over time

(Hello… that’s basically SCB šŸ˜…)

Because honestly?

The people getting the best long-term results usually aren’t the ones doing the MOST…

They’re the ones doing enough…
consistently šŸ’›

✨ CLIENT SPOTLIGHT, Kristin ✨

Kristins story is one I know so many people are going to relate to.

Not because everything has been ā€œperfectā€ā€¦ but because she kept showing up anyway.

Her mindset, honesty, courage and willingness to keep moving forward even during hard seasons has been incredibly inspiring to watch.

Over the past few months she’s built so much more than just strength and fitness. She’s built confidence, resilience and belief in herself again. šŸ’›

And the best part?
She’s done it in a way that is realistic, sustainable and works for HER life.

I’m so proud of you Kristin. Thank you for being willing to share your story so openly. I know your words are going to help more people than you probably realise.

šŸ‘‡Have a listen to Kristins story.

Yes… I’m teaching our strength members burpees šŸ˜…

I actually love burpees for one big reason:

They teach strength + efficiency together.

You need legs.
You need core strength.
You need upper body strength.
You need coordination.
You need to learn how to move your body efficiently instead of fighting against it.

And that’s exactly why we do them.

Not sloppy.
Not frantic.
Not ā€œgo as hard as you can.ā€

We teach them properly.

Because a good burpee is actually a really smart full-body strength movement when scaled correctly.

And contrary to what people think… we’re not doing 50 of them šŸ˜…

Most of our members are doing tiny sets.
2–5 reps at a time.
A few rounds.
That’s enough.

We want quality movement, not exhaustion.

Some of our members use a box.
Some step back instead of jumping.
Some move slowly and controlled.
Some add speed once confidence builds.

That’s the beauty of it.

There’s something pretty empowering about realising:
ā€œHang on… I actually CAN move my body like this.ā€

Also… they’re kind of fun once you stop fearing them šŸ˜…

And honestly, if we only ever did seated exercises or isolated movements, we’d miss out on teaching people how to use their strength in a more dynamic, coordinated way.

Strong doesn’t just mean lifting heavier weights.

Strong is being able to move your body confidently, efficiently and without overthinking every movement šŸ’Ŗ

You know that burning feeling in your muscles? šŸ”„

The one that makes you think:
ā€œWow… this must be working.ā€

Here’s the thing…

Muscle burn and muscle building are NOT the same thing.

Those tiny pulsing movements, squat holds and super high-rep exercises can create a massive burn…

…but that feeling is mostly muscular fatigue.

Not necessarily muscle growth.

Now before anyone comes for me šŸ‘€
That style of training DOES have benefits.

It can improve:
āœ” Muscular endurance
āœ” Coordination
āœ” Stability
āœ” Body awareness
āœ” Mental toughness

And yes… we DO sprinkle this kind of work into our sessions at Sunny Coast Bootcamp because it absolutely has a place.

BUT…

It shouldn’t be the foundation of your entire training program if your goal is to actually get stronger, build muscle and improve long-term function.

That requires:
→ Enough resistance
→ Good movement quality
→ Recovery
→ Consistency
→ Progressive overload over time

This is why our sessions are structured the way they are.

We don’t just throw random exercises together to make people sweaty.

Our training is programmed with purpose to help people ACTUALLY get stronger, move better and build confidence in their bodies.

Because there’s a big difference between:
ā€œI felt the burnā€
and
ā€œMy body is adapting and getting stronger.ā€

The strongest workouts often don’t look the flashiest on Instagram!
