Update: Elfie has found a wonderful home in Tasmania with a repeat client ❤️
As we downsize, we’re looking for the right home for some of our wonderful horses, including Exmoor Elf (“Elfie”).
Born in 2009 and standing around 15.2hh, Elfie is by ESB Irish Descent (ISH with Souvenir lines) out of a Connemara mare, combining athleticism, scope and an exceptional temperament.
For the past five years, Elfie has been a broodmare and has produced quality foals by Blackall Park Twist, as well as an ISH and a GRP stallion. She is an outstanding broodmare - easy to have around, consistently conceives on the first service, and has always foaled without issue.
Before she joined the breeding program, I rode Elfie in showjumping (80-90) eventing (65), riding club and trail riding. She has always been a safe, sensible mare with a forward, willing way of going, making her a fun and enjoyable ride.
Elfie does have EMS, which requires awareness / ongoing management. She has never shown signs or had issues while in foal and when not breeding, it has been successfully managed through diet and restricted access to grass.
At this stage of her life, Elfie would be well suited to continuing as a broodmare or returning to work as a pleasure riding horse. She would make a lovely mount for an adult rider, a trail riding home, or someone wanting to enjoy low-level showjumping and general all-round activities.
We are just about to wean Elfie’s current foal and having been in the broodmare herd, she has not been ridden for five years. She will need a patient, gradual return to work. She will be available in the next couple of weeks either as a broodmare or for someone looking to bring her back under saddle. If we don’t find the right home, we’ll happily bring her back into work ourselves at some stage in the next couple of months and re-advertise her.
