Serenely located beneath

a rural farming property only 15 minutes from Mount Gambier, 'Kilsby's Sinkhole' is renowned as one of the best sinkhole dive sites in the world due to its crystal clear water and breathtaking visibility. The site has a unique history; in the 1970's and early 1980's, the sinkhole was used for the classified testing of Barra Sonobuoys as part of a Government weapons research program. It has been a long-term training site for South Australian Police Divers and has been a popular training and recreational dive site for cave diving through an access agreement with the Cave Divers Association of Australia. More recently, the Kilsby family has pursued opportunities to welcome more visitors to the site including recreational scuba divers to dive the open water section of the sinkhole (under professional supervision), free-divers and snorkelers. The site is also visited by school students and tourists who are interested in viewing the natural beauty and geological features of the sinkhole. The above ground area of the site have recently been transformed incorporating the development of toilets, shower and change-room facilities, classroom/training space and kitchenette area. The grounds surrounding the sinkhole have been landscaped, native plants reintroduced to the site and picnic tables and bbq area have been created.

Today was the most perfect day for Holly to tick Kilsby Sinkhole Snorkeling off her bucket list .
Travelling a 1400 km round trip …purely just to experience it .
The weather was sublime and would you believe , Holly had the sinkhole to herself ( no other bookings which was crazy given the beautiful weather ) but perfect for her .
Holly and Turtie spent a lot of time in the water together which made it super special - for both .
Sometimes the stars align and you get the most special day . Nature at its finest .
