Kilsbys is the most stunning dive

Snorkellers can also experience this crystal clear water

And complete the experience with Sinkhole Gin ❀️

Nestled in the midst of a sheep paddock in South Australia, Kilsby Sinkhole offers a dive experience like no other, especially during the solstice when light enters from above reaching 33 metres below. As divers descend in 15-degree Celsius fresh water, they're greeted by mesmerising columns of blue light piercing through the darkness, creating a surreal, otherworldly ambiance. This natural light show, set against the stark blackness of the sinkhole walls, offers a breathtaking contrast. Suspended in these ethereal beams, divers find themselves in a space-like experience, unparalleled in its beauty and tranquility. Kilsby Sinkhole is not just a dive site; it's an unforgettable journey into an aquatic wonderland, promising a world-class adventure. (Image courtesy Rene Le Roux during her dive this afternoon)

It's expected the Mount Gambier fire could continue to smoulder potentially for weeks, with the Valley Lakes precinct, Carinya Gardens cemetery, Potters Point and nearby walking and mountain bike trails remaining closed.

The Metropolitan Fire Service has asked the public to avoid the area due to the risk of falling trees and branches, as well as hot spots on the ground.

Fire control will continue in the coming days as damage assessment begins.

Mount Gambier City Council CEO Sarah Philpott provided an idea of the plan going forward through a statement released today.

β€œWhen we have an idea of the recovery work that is required in the areas affected by the fire, there will be a phased opening of the space to the community. This will really depend on what we find, but we will keep the community informed as soon as we know more.” she said.

The fire is the area of the caravan park/cementary/golf course
they are water bombing, so hopefully will be under control before too long

The Country Fire Service (CFS) has issued an advice message asking residents to stay alert and monitor local conditions as smoke spreads across the city.

Sometimes we use drones to shoot beautiful bird’s eye views of our state’s incredible parks like Ewens Ponds Conservation Park. We do this to encourage people to visit and value parks and sometimes for important scientific research. But unfortunately not everyone is permitted to fly drones in parks – it can disturb wildlife and ruin visitors’ peaceful experiences.

When we use drones we always seek permission, fly them during periods when there aren’t many visitors and always with a ranger present so that we don’t disturb wildlife.

Find out more about the use of drones in parks here: www.parks.sa.gov.au/permits-and-licences/drones-and-aircraft
