Another part load of knockdown in the pits , behind the bar & in between tree lines. Staying on top of weeds as they emerge. Left overs were used at the old pioneer cemetery . Thanks to the local bus driver (Hards) for helping, always easier with a helping hand. Thanks to Kondinin Rural Supplies for the chemical donation last year , still using it .

**MEDIA ANNOUNCEMENT**

We hinted at our last event and in a few posts recently that a change was coming…..

A new name for our main event in February (12th & 13th in 2027)

BURNOUT WARS – KATANNING

Yep, Smoke Till Ya Choke (STYC) Burnouts is changing its name to Burnout Wars – Katanning

A change to the event name has been on the cards for a while, driven by the issues we have with both the “Smoke” part of the name, and the negative connotations it can carry.

This has made it hard for us to advertise on radio & video media in the past, as media outlets have strong views around anything that promotes or can be linked to smoking.(Even though we smoke Tyres, not ciggys and drugs!)

So after our AGM in May, the Burnout Committee of Dill, Pagey, Trav & Jeff but their collective 5 braincells together(Trav has four, the rest all share one) and came up with a heap of different names that could potentially take over from the STYC mantle.

Some sounded great, but may have run into similar issues with advertising, while others clashed with other local(WA) events.

We finally settled on BURNOUT WARS – KATANNING!

Now, we understand that some people wont like it, and that’s okay, but coming up with a name for an event, that;
A. Doesn’t clash
B. Is easy to read/hear on advertising
C. Can be flexible with merchandising options(logo’s, colour schemes etc) isn’t an easy task.

There is a Q & A of what we assume will be common questions asked, so before you rush to the comments section, have a read, and if you have a further(sensible) question you would like answered, flick a PM to the page, and we will answer it, and if we feel the need, will add it to our Q & A list!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Isn’t there a Burnouts Wars in America?
A. Yes, there is, however, we feel this won’t cause too much confusion with the American event. *There is also an event promoter in South Australia that goes by Burnout Warz(with a Z), and we did make contact with him out of professional courtesy before we settled on the name, again, we don’t believe it will cause too much confusion.

Q. Has this change happened because of WOBS going into a Gap year?
A. Nope, we have been discussing this for a while, and restarted the conversation before the WOBS announcement. In addition to that, when WOBS resumes, BURNOUT WARS – KATANNING will be on board with bells on!

Q. Has the committee/organizers of the event changed?
A. Nope. Same people behind the scenes, while we had a new Treasurer & Secretary voted in at the last AGM, the core people that have been running the STYC & SWYB events for the past 10 years hasn’t changed. (We are always looking for more members & helpers though!)

Q. What else has changed about the event?
A. Nothing. Yet…….. 😉 We are always looking to improve our events, so we have ideas in the mix, but the core event wont change! Same Date, Same Saturday Cruise, Same Killer Pad!

Q. New Merch?
A. Absolutely! But we do need to sell the old merch out first, so keep your eyes open at the coming Sting What You Bring events for some bargains!

-We will change the names on socials, hopefully just a name change and no need for a new page!

Stay tuned for more updates!
