Vale Bruce Eyres 🤍

The Kojonup Polo & Polocrosse Club would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Eyres family and all who knew Bruce.

Bruce was a true horseman and a valued part of the polo and polocrosse community. He began playing Polocrosse for Kulin around 1975, before moving into Polo with Mininooka Polo Club in 1977. He later played for Perth Polo Club, and in the early 1980s made Kojonup his home, where he became part of our local club story. His passion for the sport was carried on through his family, with his son Michael playing for Kojonup in 1991.

Bruce’s contribution to the game, his sportsmanship, and his love of horses will be fondly remembered by many across generations and clubs.

Our thoughts are with Bruce’s family and friends at this sad time.

Bruce’s funeral will be held on February 6th at 10:00am at Karrakatta.

Rest peacefully, Bruce. 🐎💙

Saturday was also a special day for our club as Flea Webb was awarded life membership!

On the polocrosse field, Flea has represented Kojonup since the age of eight, at every Wandecla Carnival bar one, and at many tournaments each year. She has also played for Western Australia on fifteen occasions, represented Australia four times, and has been inducted into the Kojonup Sporting Hall Of Fame.

Off the field, Flea has contributed to the club throughout her entire life, often one of the first to arrive, and always the last to leave the many working bees held at Wandecla throughout each year, in addition to devoting herself to all events hosted, and the preparations for the club’s annual fundraiser, and the weekend itself, the Wandecla Races.

Flea has served the club over many consecutive years, often flying beneath the radar, however she has also held the official positions of Catering Manager, Vice Captain, Penciller, Horse Welfare Officer and Race Steward, a position she holds to this day.

A valued club member, team mate, friend, producer of quality club horses, and ongoing generous sponsor of Kojonup Polo and Polocrosse Club, Flea’s Life Membership is so very well deserved. Congratulations Flea! 🧡

It’s not just sponsors (who we love BTW) that make an event happen it’s the hardworking volunteers that mark the fields, run the office, create the draw, run the kitchen, clean toilets, run the bar, organise the prizes and everything else before and after the event that bring it to life.

We wanted to thank the members of Kojonup Polo & Polocrosse Club for allowing us the use of their grounds and facilities at such very short notice! In particular Crooksy for setting up the fields and line marking through out the weekend and Kristy for putting in a huge effort in organising the kitchen. If there’s anyone we’ve missed please let us know but we are extremely grateful for all the members and the club helping us out.

Our own club members! We are a very small club compared to some but we managed to pull off hosting the club championships at a completely different venue!😅 Everyone got stuck in and got it done with not a complaint in sight. Some special mentions❤️
