Another great SOLD OUT clinic up at Maleny over the weekend hosted by Maleny Equestrian Groups.
Thank you to Helen, Gayle, Jodie, Michele C, Norm, Leisha, Talia, Michele W, Sheryl and Sam for attending!
This clinic was not advertised because it sold out quickly and I did another clinic on the southside which sold out within 30 minutes, if you are interested in hosting a Horsemanship, Ranch or Reining clinic in your area please let me know☺️👍🏼

Another great side story from the clinic, I met a gentleman named Peter Grieve who had attended a Ray Hunt clinic at the same time as I did in Rockhampton in 1986 (I was 18 at the time)
This was a great blast from the past so to speak and wonderful to catch up and share some stories and memories about Ray.

Special shout out and thanks to Helen McMahon and Gayle Johnson for all their work behind the scenes organising and catering for the day! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Great way to start the day

The one and only Robert Duvall has passed away. He was 95. To us, he’ll always be Gus McRae.

Had a great time doing this clinic!
All the horses and people had a lot of fun even though we had an “exciting thunderstorm” in the middle of it all!
Stayed back late to help out those last few keen students.
Really looking forward to next year to do a few more.
Thanks so much to Helen and Gayle for all their work organising.

Another great clinic with Wayne Williams on the 29/11. Everyone was having too much fun to take many photos sorry.

A really great summary of part of the journey to be a horseman and always worth remembering!

A really great summary of part of the journey to be a horseman and always worth remembering!

The Cost of Entry

The cost of entry into becoming a good horseman, is discomfort.

Learning is not supposed to feel easy. When someone is teaching you, especially in horsemanship, it’s going to challenge you. You’ll feel awkward. Unsure. Maybe even frustrated. That’s part of the process.

Because horse training isn’t something you can memorize or “figure out” through words alone. You can’t study enough in a book to master technique.
It takes feel, and feel can only be developed through time, mistakes, and experience.

Every great hand you admire once sat right where you are: fumbling through timing, missing moments, questioning themselves. But they kept showing up. They stayed open. They let the horse and the work shape them. And most of us are still reaching, still pressing to learn more, do better, and putting ourselves in the awkward learning stage.

If you want to be a good horseman, you have to be willing to pay the price, and that price is being uncomfortable learning but still showing up anyways.
