Newport Cruising Yacht Club Newport Cruising Yacht Club's home waters are the northern end of Moreton Bay and includes Deception

The Newport Cruising Yacht Club sails from Scarborough and Newport on the Redcliffe Peninsula, 40 km north of Brisbane C*D. We have moved to our new clubhouse accessed from Klingner Road, Kippa Ring. Use the Dick (Tosser) Turner Complex entrance and turn left. We meet after our events on Wednesday and Saturday from around 4:30pm. Please join us there and we can answer any questions you may have regarding boat ownership, crewing or cruising. The Queensland Government has provided $131,933 to Newport Cruising Yacht Club to assist with securing a new clubhouse and new clubhouse equipment to enable Queenslanders to participate in sport and recreation activities. We also acknowledge the ongoing support that we have received from the Moreton Bay Regional Council through the Community Grants Program that has helped us deliver this project. Funding to date is in the region of $25,000 and they have additionally provided an interest free $50,000 loan facility. Our home waters are at the northern end of Moreton Bay and include Deception Bay. Our events start and finish in the vicinity of the Newport Waterways Outer Leads. SAGS and WAGS races are run every week on Saturday and Wednesday afternoons. The club actively promotes social interaction and family participation. We also organize cruising in company events to different destinations within the region.

Congratulations to Full Bore first across the line followed by Sanaju and Against All Odds.

Congratulations to Howard our lucky winner of the Sea Salt Voucher.

Today's race saw 7 boats sail in lovely , if benign conditions. Wight Dog and Wings were neck and neck at the end with Wight Dog winning a very tight finish, forcing Tanandra into third place. Welcome back Gavin. There was a noisy gathering at the clubhouse after.

Saturday’s Spirit Series – proudly sponsored by LR Sails

Light north-easterly breezes made for a challenging day on the water, with a great tussle among the three middle-line starters.

Once handicaps were applied, Sanaju made the most of the conditions to take first place, closely followed by Against All Odds in second and Huon Star in third.

Congratulations to all the fleet who made the most of the light conditions!

WAGS proudly sponsored by Dirty Boat Bottoms.

Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t ideal for sailing, with very lights winds making for challenging conditions. The race was eventually abandoned.

A small group of members still made the most of the afternoon, gathering at the clubhouse after the race for some good company and a catch-up.

A small group of keen skippers headed out to compete in the Single Handed Rce. The weather gods were very nice and put on a spectacular day for the event with sunny skies and winds around 8 to knots. Summer Breeze got a good start and led the fleet away but was soon passed by the bigger boats, Against All Odds and Huon Star who had a great battle all the way around the course, closely followed by Full Bore. Against All Odds took line honours but had to settle for second place on corrected times with Summer Breeze taking out first place and Huon Star third.

SAGS proudly sponsored by Sea Salt & Vine. Not a perfect day for sailing with cloudy skies, light winds and flat seas. Despite a good fleet taking to the water, the race was abandoned when the light winds abated entirely. A good group convened back at the clubhouse.

Congratulations to Jane winner of the Sea Salt & Vine voucher.

Turned out to be lovely day for a race..plenty of wind interspersed with challenging lighter wind. Not a drop of rain anywhere but lumpy seas made for an interesting race.
Wings passed Infinity on last leg to take first place.

Good gathering back at the clubhouse after the race.
