THE SECRET TO BEING HEALTHY

I don’t appreciate my body because it looks, moves and feels well.

My body looks, moves and feels well BECAUSE I APPRECIATE IT.

If there’s one thing I could say to everyone in the world about physical health it’s this

If you are doing anything for your health so that you can feel better.

But right now you don’t, because you don’t like the way your body looks, moves or feels, you even neglect it because of that..

You are punishing yourself and your body.

And I’m not blaming you.

You grew up in a world of almost everything symbolising that you have to look, move and feel perfectly.

You don’t.
You aren’t.

You’re imperfect.
I’m imperfect.

It’s beautiful.
I have a bumpy spine, the surgeon thought I couldn’t carry anything on my upper back ever again after high speed collisions, I’ve had a numb left arm from this and the list goes on of imperfections.

In fact, I used to be so insecure about how I looked, that it affected my athletic performance, I had social anxiety and more.

What do you do about it?

Where attention goes
Energy flows

What do you appreciate about how your body looks, moves and feels right now as is?

If you write a big list, you’re attention will start to shift

And when your attention shifts
Your energy will.

You’ll begin to move, eat and drink because you APPRECIATE your body and yourself.

This truly is a secret to health (only because most of us have been so hypnotised by fear based advertising and marketing.)

Here’s a list to get you started and notice the magic begin to take place:

1. I appreciate my beating heart keeping me alive.
2. I appreciate my lungs supporting me breathing.
3. I appreciate my physical injuries of the past that taught me how to heal and strengthen my body as well as thousands of others.

The list goes on.

Our authenticity is snatched from us through childhood whilst the people around us tell us who we are and give us advice about things that they have not done. The goal in adult is to discover your authentic self. That’s the main goal.

That same aggression, when mastered can be channeled into creating something your passionate about that gives so much back to others.

It’s proven babies die without touch, and you’re no different. When is the last time you were hugged or hugged someone?
In adulthood, it’s crucial to emotional and mental stability which will support all growing and contributing for individuals and those around them.
For those who live alone or for whatever reason don’t have physical contact with others, a massage is a great option.
This is also a reason why humans need to look beyond what they see in someone like a homeless person. They might need physical touch for their well-being more than almost anyone.

Joints are usually weaker than muscles.
That’s why the joints need to be trained to prevent injuries.
We were born to explore every bit our bodies (mind, soul and purpose) potential.
When we do this we reverse the age of the joints and our body.
We pump more blood
We increasing healing
We strengthen.

Todays was 30 seconds as fast as possible on the airdyne nose breathing only (if possible).
The sprint I did the other day was more painful but this was still brutal.

Healing and Strengthening shoulders
This range of motion in the dip position will help bulletproof the shoulders.
When we contract muscles in unfamiliar range of motion the brain no longer perceives as much if a threat, and this is how we best become flexible and mobile again like we were as a child.
Of course we need to progress into these unfamiliar positions. At the beginning of this video You can see my feet slightly touching the platform so that I begin to pump blood and synovial fluid into the joint before I press up out of the position with speed.

“Like water off a ducks back”
Look at this majestic duck. Every drop of water slides off its back with ease, it flaps its wings and Carries on.
This is what last year, last decade, yesterday, or the second before you read this can be for you.
If you’re going to follow me, I’m going to do my best to teach you how to master your mind, body, and life this year and beyond.
I begin with this simple metaphor.
Don’t underestimate metaphors though, they can be the turning point of your life, change the trajectory of it all.
Small hinges open large doors, just like one small step you take makes the big ones.

The story goes that a wise tribal elder once told a young tribesmen that there are two wolves inside of us.

one is full of unconditional love, joy, happiness, forgiveness, acceptance and compassion.
The other is full of hatred, jealousy, and a fear driven thirst for control.
To which the tribesmen replied
“Which one is stronger?”
“The one you feed”
Said the elder.
See, maybe metaphors can help you 😉.

HELPING OTHERS & HELPING YOURSELF
Ever gave someone great advice, and they did nothing with it?
Ever procrastinated?
Here’s why.
This model was created by Prochaska and DiClemente in the 1970’s to describe behavioural change.
The six stages are:
1. Pre-contemplation
AKA an unknown and unspoken problem as I would call it. The person isn’t even aware they have a problem and they’re not considering changing behaviour. Imagine trying to help this person? Waste of your time.
2. Contemplation - they’re now aware a problem exists but not committed (or 100%) to action.
3. Preparation - intent on taking action. An example of how useful this is, is that I don’t work with anyone who isn’t at this stage at least, it helps me define who is ready to change, because I am here to challenge and guide you, I can’t do the work for you. I appreciate whatever stage anyones at, and am decisive in who I surround myself with personally and professionally, I’d suggest you do the same.
4. Action - 👌⚡️
5. Maintenance - the new behaviour replaces the old. An important point here is to notice when you have a problem, any action must be taken, because no action at all results in..
Stage 6. Relapse
When you repeat the old behaviour. It’s useful to expect that this might happen and accept it, because you have still gone through a learning process.
If you’re curious and willing to learn the lessons, you will continue to jump levels in your mindset skills or tools.

REGULATING EMOTIONS AND MANAGING STRESS
One thought can influence stress or a strong emotion.
The cost of this can be detrimental.
Not only a cost of hours, but inaction, or disfunctional action.
As a coach, breathing techniques are one of the first things I teach.
Because if the brain sent the stress to the body (known as top down) we now know the body can send a message back up to change the way we feel.
It’s a simple yet powerful tool, and there are many techniques I teach.
This one is holotropic breathing which will oxygenate the blood flowing in your body, help reduce inflammation and regulate emotions if done enough.
If you’d like to try it, practise breathing deeply through your nose filling your belly up, and then your chest (this may take practise) then breathing out through the mouth.
If you’d like to learn more about these breathing techniques or how I can help you unlock your best self, purpose and goal achievement, I have one place left this year for coaching.
I ideally work with people who have very big goals, perhaps manage a team requiring more leadership and have a great sense of humour (to make up for my dad jokes)
