Pete and Simone joined me for a day on Lake Somerset recently and got a real good taste of just how good Somerset can fire.

Both learnt how to cast and retrieve lures well and took no time in getting some great results with some beautiful Australian Bass and Yellowbelly.

A lot of fun was had and many fish were caught by the pair.

Jason and Scotty joined me for a couple days on Lake Borumba with a goal in mind of catching their PB Saratoga.

Both the lads had been with me before and knew exactly what we had to do. After a bit of searching and a few bait changes, we honed in on what the Toga were after and how to get them to bite.

Surface was on the cards and the lads got stuck into em.

They caught a heap of great fish and the lads may have caught a record fish but we’ll keep that story for a later date as we wait for results and verification from IGFA.

Was a great couple days and the lads have already got another trip or two planned.

James picked a perfect day to take his kids out for a half day on Somerset over the Easter Holidays.

The dam was reasonably busy with holiday makers but that didn’t stop the kids from catching some great fish.

Australian bass were on the cards and everyone got amongst a few each.

They all had a great time and enjoyed catching a heap of freshwater fish.

We’re back and boy have we been busy!

Neil Tschutura wanted me to have a look aver his sounders on his boat and give em a little tweak to get t them dialed in for fishing for Bass and Saratoga and after a few little modifications it was time to put them to work.

I showed Neil what to look for to find fish and what lure and technique to get them interested. We fished a section of the dam that was quite busy with fisherman and traffic and Neil hooked 5 Saratoga quickly and landed 3 nice ones.

2 over 70 and one in the 60s unfortunately the huge ones he hooked got away but that just made him keener.

The cooler change hasn’t seemed to bother the Toga and Neil now know just what to do to catch all he wants for some pictures.

Well done mate!

My calendar has started to free up and I have some availability for the coming months when the fishing really gets fun. So please contact me if you’re keen to learn about Saratoga, Bass or Yellowbelly fishing.

That feeling of landing your very first Saratoga, it’s hard to beat.

Awesome to see a grown man shaking with excitement after catching one of these legendary fish.
