We are carrying out essential maintenance works at Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre to help keep our facilities safe, reliable and operating at their best.

โš ๏ธ Pool Closure
The pools will be closed from Monday 22 June to Sunday 28 June for essential electrical upgrades to the pool filtration systems.

โš ๏ธ Stadium Closure
The stadium will be closed from Monday 29 June to Sunday 5 July for annual floor refurbishment works.

โœ… What's still open?
The gym and group fitness facilities will remain open throughout these works.
Please note that Aqua classes will not operate at Seymour during the pool closure period (22 to 28 June).

Men's Health Week ๐Ÿ’™

This Men's Health Week, we're sharing the stories behind what keeps our team active, healthy and motivated.

For Gym Instructor, Personal Trainer and Group Fitness legend, Jordan, fitness started during a challenging period in life. After going through a breakup at a young age, the gym became a positive outlet, providing structure, independence and a way to keep moving forward. "The gym helped me clear my mind and stay afloat during a time I needed it most."

What keeps him motivated today is the sense of progression and having something to work towards, "And if I'm being honest... there's also the selfish goal of getting my muscles as big as they can be!"

When it comes to staying active, it's not all about the gym. โ€œAs a kid, gymnastics was inspired by wanting to do the flips and moves he'd seen superheroes like Spider-Man and Batman pull off. These days, it's still a great way to build strength, fitness and discipline โ€” and it's become a fun social activity tooโ€.

Outside of exercise, he's a self-confessed nerd and currently hooked on the latest LEGO Batman game. To keep himself accountable, he's created a simple rule:

๐ŸŽฎ No PlayStation until the gym session is done for the day.

Some of his proudest achievements include:
โœ… Reaching a 40kg dumbbell bench press
โœ… Quitting smoking
โœ… Surviving almost three months of non-stop carbs while travelling through Europe ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ

His advice for other men looking to improve their health and wellbeing?
๐Ÿ’™ Build a strong support network.
๐Ÿ’™ Ask a mate to join you if you're struggling to stay motivated.
๐Ÿ’™ Reach out and talk when things aren't going well.
๐Ÿ’™ Focus on consistency rather than perfection.

Men's Health Week ๐Ÿ’™

This Men's Health Week, we're proud to share the story of Rod, who has spent more than 40 years helping others improve their health and wellbeing through fitness.

For Rod, running is more than exercise, it's discipline, resilience, stress relief and an important part of maintaining positive mental health.

This year, he's taking on the Melbourne Marathon while fundraising for FightMND, combining his passion for running with a cause close to his heart.
Alongside running, Rod enjoys strength training and teaching DDP Yoga, helping him stay active, mobile and resilient.

"Fitness is about more than exercise - it's about habits, mindset and mental wellbeing. Movement helps me manage stress, stay grounded and stay resilient."

His advice is simple:
๐Ÿ’™ Find something you enjoy.
๐Ÿ’™ Stay consistent.
๐Ÿ’™ Make your health a priority.
๐Ÿ’™ Small steps create big change.

Most importantly, Rod reminds us that strength isn't just physical - it's also about speaking up, supporting each other and looking after our mental health.

Congratulations to our incredible Group Fitness Instructor, Jordan Kennedy, on being nominated for Group Exercise Instructor of the Year! ๐Ÿ‘

While he didn't take home the award, being recognised among the 24 most outstanding instructors in the state, is an achievement in itself, and one we're incredibly proud of.

Since joining Mitchell Leisure Services, Jordan has built a loyal following through his energy, expertise, humour and genuine care for every participant. Whether he's leading Aqua, Strength and Conditioning, Seniors or Core and Stretch, Jordan creates a welcoming environment where everyone feels supported, challenged and connected.

From knowing members by name to mentoring new instructors and always stepping up when needed, Jordan embodies everything great group fitness is about.

This Men's Health Week, we're shining a spotlight on Corey, Gym Instructor and Personal Trainer, and the simple habits that help support his health and wellbeing.

For Corey, staying active isn't just about fitness โ€œFor me it's about feeling better both physically and mentally. Whether it's strength training at the gym, playing footy or basketball, or spending time outdoors with friends, being active helps boost energy, manage stress, stay focused and maintain a positive routine.โ€

โ€œA challenge I have overcome is learning to step outside my comfort zone and take on new experiences, and this has helped me grow personally. These experiences have taught me the value of hard work, persistence, and continuous learningโ€.

His advice for other men?
๐Ÿ’™ Start small and focus on consistency.
๐Ÿ’™ Find activities you genuinely enjoy.
๐Ÿ’™ Look after your mental health as much as your physical health.

High blood pressure often has no obvious symptoms, yet it is one of the leading risk factors for heart disease, stroke, and other serious health conditions ๐Ÿฅ A quick blood pressure check can help identify potential concerns early and provide valuable insight into your overall health and wellbeing.
