ABSS Spring Carnival Horse Show once again a well run and well set up show, with numbers at every ring showcasing where they are up to. My heartfelt thanks to the organisers and volunteers for all their hard work. I truly appreciate it.

My only complaint was those damn pesky flies! Even if you belted them, they still came back! 🤦🤣🤷🤪 My apologies to those who might have heard me cursing them at times.

This year I took my own personal horses, being KM Total Raphael (Raf), and Vineyard Spice Magic (Spice).

RAF had his first ever competition experience and boy did he do me and Kerrie Meadows proud, by winning his led hunter over 16.2hh classes before moving onto winning Champion Led Hunter Hack under a UK judge.

Vineyard Spice Magic doing his 2nd ever show and well, let's say he had bucket loads of ants in his pants and simply wasn't coming to the party throughout his many classes, resulting in various placing results consistent of 2nds and 3rd placings. Let's just say he lived up to his nickname of Naughty Spice!!! 🤪😂 Fortunately he settled down towards the end of the day for his last 2 classes to win his class, and then champion other coloured breed led roan class, also under the same UK judge.

I must say that I really like the style of the UK judging methods, they are very thorough and give everyone an equal opportunity to show off their horse fairly by both on the circle and also workouts.

We also won one of the prizes in the raffle which Emily went and picked out one of the kiddies buckets with goodies. Thank you to those who donated prizes.

My most grateful thanks for everyone coming to support/assist/help me in my preparations leading up to and on the day, I really appreciate it so much.

Hi Everyone, I have had some enquiries for Barastoc plaiting, unfortunately I regret to inform that I won't be attending the show or taking any plaiting bookings.

My family and I have tested positive to COVID and we are all very unwell. I will advise when I am back in action.

Congratulations to all who attended the ABSS Spring Carnival Horse Show this weekend.

To the many clients who booked in for the show preparation and plaiting services, thank you. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting your beautiful equines, and I can not explain the joy I feel when I see you out there looking beautiful competing.

I also thank those booked on Friday for being so understanding and patience whilst I did an emergency sick horse dash to the hospital. I am so grateful for your flexibility and support.

In total did 15 plaits, and 9 make-up jobs for the weekend. Have included some photos of some of my work along with some photos I took of the FOTF classes in between bookings.

Now to sleep and recover 😂

Prices
$100 for mane, forelock and tail plait.
$70 for forelock and mane.
$40 for tail plait only.

VALE Naringa Mariah, also known as Nari.

Born in 1993, bred by Penny who successfully succeeded in creating a super pony for many to enjoy.

Nikki purchased Nari from Penny and had some fun with her in her younger days before she reluctantly advertised her. I saw the handwritten ad in SaddleUp Ringwood and was excited to see another Naringa bred pony. Naturally I had to go look at this pony and was fortunate to lease her for 12 months with option to buy. 6 months later, I paid her off and finally called her my own. Nikki, thank you so much for allowing me to take care of such a precious mare.

Nari has since then, competed at many shows from topsy ring level all the way up to the royals and hoty with much success, with various children riders who I sponsored to ride and compete for me.

Attending many clinics, pony club rallies, one day events, games, showjumping to trail riding and swimming in the dam, there was nothing she didn't have a crack at.

From breeding 2 beautiful ponies and gifting me my beautiful Vineyard Rose who has the same beautiful temperament I had hoped for.

To many lease homes who got the rare opportunity to ride and enjoy a safe, fun and enjoyable pony in all they did.

To finally return home, and teach my niece Tamira and my daughter Emily the joys of Nari's big heart.

Sadly in the last couple of months, Nari had developed an enlarged continually growing hard mass (melanoma) on her buttock, and whilst she was quite happy within herself, it started to impact on her internally so I made the call to put her down so she had a dignified ending without suffering too much.

Her thoughts of me doing so, in the last 4 days, was to run away from me numerous times so I couldn't give her medication (antibiotics and bute), so when I went to catch her today, armed with a carrot, she took one look and ran off several times before she finally allowed me to catch her. I told her to stop being a ratbag and to act her age of 31 years since she was meant to be sick, old and grannylike!! 🙄🤣

Thank you Nari for giving so much joy, love and precious moments to so many, and we all thank you for the gifts you shared with us over the many years.

Rest in peace my beautiful mare.

My most grateful thanks to Dr Zoe Page Equine Vet for all you did for Nari over the years and for kindly sponsoring her final years, I can not express our gratitude enough.

Hi Everyone,

Unfortunately I have to close the business for a few weeks as I have to have surgery this week on my left arm to remove Melanoma skin and am not allowed to work for a few weeks after.

Really important to highlight having yearly skin checks for yourselves. I have mine done at Molescreen in Camberwell and they are so thorough in checking and also keep images of suspect spots/moles for comparison each subsequent check for any changes. Thanks to them, this current one was identified and we are able to take steps to hopefully stop this one in its tracks.
