A HUGE thank you to Councillor Russell Wantling - Southern Downs Regional Council . We had some nearly insurmountable challenges this year and Russell made it possible to put on another Untamed event. THANK YOU for supporting our all-volunteer organised event.

The day began warmer than the last, but the spirit remained just as fierce. With fires crackling and the sun yet to break the horizon, 180 determined runners gathered at the starting lines for the 50km, 21km and 10km runs, ready to take on the Untamed Border Events Border Run, a breathtaking, brutal journey between Killarney, QLD and Legume, NSW.

High above at Carrs Lookout, the wind howled and fog rolled in thick. Yet there, silhouetted against the early light, stood two bagpipers, battling the elements themselves to deliver stirring music for the warriors below. Their notes cut through the chill, lifting hearts and spurring legs forward.

In the face of biting winds and zero visibility, these athletes pressed on — driven not just by grit, but by something deeper. A desire to push past limits. To prove that strength is forged in discomfort. That courage often looks like one more step into the unknown.

This isn’t just a race. It’s a reminder:
The fog may be thick, the winds harsh, but when your fire is lit from within, nothing can stop you.

Track clearing has been challenging this year! The grass is long and the ground wet so no slashing with machinery possible. Bring out the humble whipper snipper and 10km later, the track is ready for race day. Oh, and a fair bit still to be done.

It's National volunteer Week! Did you know Untamed Border Run is entirely volunteer-organised? From our Founding Dream Team of Susie, Gavin and Craig, our Committee, social media, Race HQ, course marshals, photographers and the farmers who open their gates to us - none of this would happen without their good vibes and shared love of fun and community in the outdoors.
