Gear inspection complete!

With patrol season just around the corner, our gear has been put through its annual inspection today to make sure everything is ready to go when we hit the beach.

Today we inspected:

• 20 Rescue Boards
• 14 Rescue Tubes
• 10 Life Jackets
• 7 IRBs
• 14 IRB Motors
• 3 Jet Skis
• 2 ATVs
• 4 First Aid Kits
• 3 Oxygen Resuscitation Kits
• 2 Defibrillators
• 4 Spinal Kits

All inspected gear passed and is ready for the season ahead.

With the season fast approaching, our volunteers are getting prepared to keep our beaches safe. Bring on patrol season!

IRB Aussies Update.
Congratulations to our IRB Team who have just returned from a week at South West Rocks competing at the Australian IRB Championships.
🥇1st Masters Male Teams Rescue
🥉3rd U23 Female Tube Rescue
🥇1st IRB Interstate Championships
The Week began with a perfect start, seeing NSW secure the Interstate Championships. Although we didn't have any competitors representing this year, we did have 3 members heavily involved. Steve Strong as Team Manager, Nathan Foster as Chief Boat Handler and Kylie Strong rounding up patients as Patient Coordinator. Well done guys and well done NSW.
U23 Championships kicked off on Thursday and saw our new and emerging crews put in a impressive showing with the team making 5 Semifinals and 2 finals.
Bringing home 3rd Place and a bronze medal in the U23 Female Tube Rescue. Congratulations to Ella Cleal-Cook, Kirra Dale and Brad Honey
We also finished 4th in the U23 Female Rescue.
Our Opens were next up finishing 6th in the Open IRB Relay and also making the final of the Open Male Surf.
Masters was held late Saturday and our team performed incredibly making 6 finals and coming home Australian Champions in the Masters Male Teams Race.
the event wasn't without challenges with masters crewy Scott Parker pulling a hamstring in the first round of the event, and having to be substituted for the remainder of the event. Kathy had an injury flare up and battled on bravely to make all 4 Masters Finals. you are 1 tough cookie Kath.

🏆With a huge effort from one of the smallest teams to compete masters, the club secured 3rd place on the overall Masters point score.
Congratulations team, you guys and girls continue to fly the KD flag high at every opportunity.

Congratulations to our IRB team who competed at Fingal Bay over the weekend at the 2026 NSW State IRB Championships. Conditions ranged from dead flat and increased with waves in 1.5m range as the carnival progressed, the team made a heap of finals and finished 5th Overall. Team Captain/ Coach, Nathan is excited watching the new crews develop and improve with every event throughout this year and said the team is very excited and looking forward to heading North next week to Contest the Australian Championships being held at South West Rocks, a happy hunting ground for out club over many years and hopefully that success will continue this year. Best of luck Team, Everyone at the club will be cheering you on and looking forward getting together at Presentation Night on 31st July to Celebrate another fantastic year at Kiama Downs SLSC
