Unlike the movie character with the same name, this Predator shouldn't have been left outdoors. While it has been quite the dangerous backyard cricket weapon, after some TLC it can now return to it's natural habitat, back in the middle of a fine cricket field #

Not my standard graft but when the majority of the edge is missing, decided to completely replace the whole edge. Luckily, I had a Millenchamp & Hall "donor" bat in stock. Fresh and ready for more runs

There are times when the damage is just too much to attempt to fix the multitude of splits. Also the chance of it blowing out again are extremely high. In these cases, I go to the graft option when the owner has their heart set on keeping their favourite stick alive. No end grain joins, no dowels, as close as possible to a vertical join.
Planed flat, glued and clamped.
The glue join is stronger than the grain. Many people ask "will it last?" I've done plenty of these over the years and they've all held.
It got me thinking back to the first one I did that was for a mate at my club. His is still holding together, coming up to 9 years and he's peeled off plenty of runs in that time. I've included in here one that I recently did and that original one from 9 years back.
I trust my process or I wouldn't do it

Over the years, many customers have said they don't like getting their bats re handled. The pic below is probably one of the reasons.
The other is that the new handle just doesn't "feel right" in the hands.
Batting is hard enough as it is.
At Classic Bat Repairs, we always ask the question, "are you happy with your current handle?" If so, we will shape the new one exactly the same as the old. If not, we will shape to your new specs. One less thing to be concerned about when facing up

This was originally the owners Grandfather's bat. He's keen to use it again and while it was in very good condition for it's age, it was way too heavy for him.
He was keen on my blue stickers and while the traditionalists may hate it, would have been an OCD nightmare if I left the scoops as they were

Fair to say my brother in law's stick had seen better days when he passed it on to my nephew.
Slapped plenty of balls around in it's day.
New handle, graft, delamination repair and she's ready to go around again.
Even rolled out his old stickers
