Studley parkrun

Studley parkrun Studley parkrun is a free, timed, 5km run / walk put on by the community for the community at 8am every Saturday morning in Kew, Victoria.

parkrun is not a race against other runners, but a 5km timed run, jog or walk. It can really be whatever you want it to be, whether that's for fun or as part of a training plan. Studley parkrun offers an opportunity for all members of our local community, male or female, young or old, to come together on a regular basis to enjoy our beautiful Botanical Gardens and get physically active in the proc

ess. We want to encourage people to walk, jog or run together irrespective of their ability – this event is truly open to all and best of all it really is FREE! Taking part is easy – just register in advance by 6pm on the Friday before your first ever parkrun event. The great thing is that you only ever need to do this once! Then just set your alarm for Saturday morning and get yourself there!

We have some great news for all regular and visiting Studley parkrun participants. Kane's Bridge is open!!

This means we will be using the "normal" course again starting this weekend the 5th September.

So what is "normal"?

1. We start at the Studley Boathouse side of the Yarra River. Car parking can be either side of the Yarra as people can now access the bridge.

2. We will be running the bush loop before crossing over Kane's Bridge and continuing on the usual course.

3. The turn around cone will be in it's usual spot with a marshal present.

4. The boathouse is accessible after the event for coffees and breakfast. Yay.

What is different?

1. The repairs to Kane's Bridge has narrowed the bridge. This means parkrun participants will need to run single file in both directions to avoid other runners and park users. Please be considerate while using the bridge.

2. The path on the north side of the bridge has also been upgraded, making for a smoother run/walk.

We want to thank everyone who helped make the alternate course a success while the bridge was being repaired. A lot of behind-the-scenes effort is needed to run parkrun events and when there is a surprise change, extra effort and support is necessary. So thank you to all the RDs and volunteers for helping out over the past few months.

Michelle will be at the alternate start/finish area to guide those who have not heard about the change back to the original start before this Saturday's event. Please tell anyone you know of the change this weekend.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back over the next few weeks and enjoy the start of spring with a new bridge on our course and a lot of familiar happy faces.

Studley parkrun alternate course is on again this Saturday. We need two volunteers otherwise you can run, but no times will be recorded!! Also DO NOT park on the Studley Boathouse side of the river. Access the start/finish area near Coban Oval using Yarra Bend Road off Heidelberg Road. See you all at 7.50am.

This Kooka was watching everyone at the finish line. Thank you to Cheryl and Ellie who wore their tutus for the 22nd August; Tutu Day (think about it) and to Roger who volunteered for the 242nd time. Thank you to the small but efficient group of volunteers who made Studley parkrun #477 ( ) a successful morning. We had 193 participants trudge through the wet grass to complete the event. Smiles were on everyone's face.
Please consider volunteering in the next few weeks. With the alternate course we need an extra 2 marshals (3 in all) so that we lose as minimal participants as possible. email us at [email protected] to help out.

Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who made Studley parkrun "The Alternate Course" so successful in it's 2nd week.

Please remember you CANNOT access the start/finish from the Studley Park Boathouse side. (We are working with HQ to make changes to the website.........)

Look forward to seeing everyone again next week. Have a look at the roster and see if you can volunteer for one event in the next few weeks. We need a couple more marshals than normal so less people become lost and disorientated ;)

Studley parkrun has reopened with a temporary alternate 5km course. Please note that access to the start/finish is NOT available from the Studley Boathouse side of the Yarra. Please use Yarra Bend Road, Fairfield. Allow enough time as there are roadworks along Yarra Bend Road and also there is plenty of parking. Please email us [email protected] if you can volunteer this Saturday.

Thanks to all who made it to event #475! After having to cancel the past few weeks we have re-opened with an alternative course. Thank you to all the volunteers who made this event possible: Adam, Michael, Karla, Jacinta, Brett, Melissa, Megan, Sarah, Vanesa, Steve, Anne, Emily, Michelle, Lucas, Tricia, Thomas and Kirsten. We have exciting news...Studley parkrun is back on this Saturday 8th of August!! Due to continuing work on the bridge we have made changes to the course. A full description of the alternative course is available on our website. Important things to note:
- The new course is only on the north side of the Yarra
- Start line can only be accessed from Yarra Bend Road off Heidelberg Road Fairfield
- You cannot get access across the bridge from Studley Boathouse (DO NOT PARK on Studley Boathouse side)
- Please arrive at 7:45 for a 7:50 briefing of the new course
Importantly we can't run the event without volunteers. We currently need: time keeper, funnel manager, 2x Marshalls, 3x barcode scanners, 2 tail walkers...

Unfortunately we need to cancel Studley parkrun again for this Saturday 1st August. We are waiting on approval of a revised temporary alternate course from Parks Vic, and then parkrun HQ before we can implement the alternate course. Please keep an eye on this page for further updates.
