The four-peat is complete! Agga ‘NormAndy’ Kyrkou takes the Player of the Match medal for his match-defining 76 from 86 balls. Congrats to Kunal Balhara and his victorious squad and commiserations to our gallant opponent Knox Churches CC. 🍹🏏🔰

Semi Finals time for the Deener Army. How good!

The Magoos are at the home of cricket tomorrow, up against Alphington in the LOC1 semi final. Hays has loved the recent rains and is looking as good as it was in Round 1.

The 3s mosey on down to Mayfield Park to take on St. Pauls Oakleigh. It was a massive turnout at training last night with the boys putting in a solid session on the middle deck.

The forecast has overcast conditions and mild weather, which to a swing bowler sounds just about perfect!

Get to Hays. Get to Mayfield Park. Get behind them.

Properties or posies, these guys have you covered.

Not an easy post to write. Our 1s suffered a loss on Saturday, bringing their 2025/26 season to an end. Cricket can be the most beautiful game but it can also be brutal. It stings, but preseason started on Sunday and we look good. No rest!

The Magoos were dominant over Malvern Valley with Bull (76) and Tin Man (55) taking control of the innings, and Agga, Nakkas and Whip each with two scalps. On to the semi final at Hays this Saturday. Equally as dominant, the 3s rolled Blackburn for 58. Ravi scored 62. Do the math. Also semi final bound this Saturday against St. Pauls at Mayfield Park. Get behind them.

Unfortunately our U14 boys went down to Holy Trinity last Friday night, but what a stellar season these young lads have had. Sensational team camaraderie and sensational individual performances. The future is bright at Deener Land. Also bright - out U12 boys who are into the granny after defeating Burwood. Massive!

Final shout is to our Smash Series Women’s team who had another win last night. 2 from 2. Someone take a camera please. We need content. From what I hear we’ve quite the squad.

Late season shouts to these fine supporters of ours.

Summer isn’t done just yet with a big weekend of cricket for the seniors leading into finals. The 1s return to Hays to chase down Glen Waverley’s total of 204. The Magoos head off to Basil Reserve to play Malvern Valley and the 3s are at Terrarra Park against Blackburn North.

Crunch time folks. Imploring the Deener Army to get behind the lads and steer them towards finals.

They’ve had our backs all season:

The rain may have come but the sun was shining this past week with some great results across the board. The 1s, playing for a finals berth against Glen Waverley, took to the field and chipped away at the top order before a sparkling session after last drinks at the 60 over mark when they took 6 wickets for 10 runs to have the visitors all out for 204. Harry Riddle held the ball aloft with 5/33 off his 11 overs. Big day come Saturday.

The 2s were handed a tough loss by Knox but amongst the turmoil we saw Div Goyal post a monster knock of 172. He was handy with the ball too, posting figures of 3/62. And how about the 3s dominance?! Amiel Raniga is on a tear, chalking up another half century with 76. Aditya Guhe joining him with 58. Sunith Yakkali taking 4/10, Aditye 3/18 and Scott Simpson again 2/0. Class gents. Class.

The U14s are through to finals off the back of some sensational cricket. Nicholas McCormick was an absolute gun with 51* and 4/11 off 5 overs. Their semi will be played over 2 days this week, Thursday and Friday. Go you good things.

The PR and Marketing team apologises for the lack of comms this week. For transparency, they’d been seconded to another project, hence no results and no special features (and further delays to Squid’s Scoop, but more on that in the post season wrap). They’ve received an official warning. Press on.

The 1s are back at Hays after plenty of away games, taking on Glen Waverley in a must win two dayer with 12 men on the squad. The Magoos head out to Knox Park and the 3s join the 1s at home against Hawthorn Boroondara.

The U9, U12 and U14 teams all take on Richmond this weekend. We’ll write up a junior girls post separately, and deservingly so.

Cricket season isn’t over. It’s really just beginning.

The teams are set… with a massive inclusion!

The Deeners are fielding their first ever women’s team in the upcoming Smash Series, commencing Monday 16 Feb, 7pm - 8pm at Gordon Barnard Reserve. We had a glimpse of the stacked side at training last night and it’s positive - very positive. Why not get down and be a part of this historic moment in the club’s history? Our thanks to Tash and Michael Leeds for driving this from the ground up - hopefully the start of something huge for us.

The 1s look to defend their total of 312 against Burwood at Lynden Park, the Magoos are up against on AYC at Hays, and the 3s head to Howard Dawson to take on Glen Iris. Plenty of great juniors action to round out your week too!

Tipping the hat to:

10/02/2026

We can’t let this slide without the attention it deserves. Young Archie Egan from our U14 squad had himself a game against Hawthorn Boroondara. In Hawthorn’s first innings Archie collected 3 scalps for 8 runs off 3.2 overs. He then makes a tidy 25 off 26 balls (5 boundaries) as the Deeners put on 6/206d, before rolling through Hawthorn in their second innings with figures of 5/9 off four overs. Three of those wickets clean bowled. Four of those wickets in the first over. And one might fine hat-trick!

Jump on PlayCricket Archie, print out those game day stats, frame it up, and stick it in the pool room. How good!
