Last month we celebrated our end of season dinner at Salty Dog, and what a brilliant night it was!
In exciting news for the club, following a suggestion from club coach Cam Wheatley and after numerous discussions with the committee, Playing Life Membership has now officially been introduced. The new milestones recognise players who have made outstanding long-term contributions to the club, with Playing Life Membership awarded at 200 games for men and 150 games for women. A huge congratulations to all of our inaugural Playing Life Members, a well-deserved recognition for your dedication, commitment, and years of service to the Mariners.
Congratulations to all our award winners, and a huge thank you to our sponsors, players, supporters, and committee for making it such a fantastic season. Bring on 2026/27!
Following on from that, the HCCA held its annual presentation dinner on Friday night, where our women’s superstar Josie Crowden caused a slight upset by taking home the Women’s Best and Fairest award, as well as the Batting Aggregate, and earning a place in the Huon News Women’s Team of the Year. After spending a few years away from the game, Josie returned in outstanding form, putting together a brilliant season with both bat and ball. We’re incredibly lucky to have her at the Mariners, although we’re sure her partner and coach Nathan Swards will claim some credit for that!
Our brilliant captain Sophie Ransom also capped off a fantastic season with selection in the Women’s Team of the Year, a well-deserved recognition for the hard work and leadership she shows week in, week out.
Head coach Cam Wheatley popped in to collect the T20 Division 1 premiership flag, but otherwise didn’t trouble the scorers.
Thanks again for a brilliant year, Mariners family. Don’t forget our raffle is still running, with tickets still available and the draw to take place at our AGM, post coming shortly!
