Golfing news from the past week and yes we managed to play golf👏👏👏

Wednesday Ladies Monthly Medal Stroke 2nd September 2026

The ladies played for the Monthly Medal and their first round of the Singles Championship and the ladies were thrilled to get out on the course finally 🙌
The winner of the Monthly Medal is Mabel Spitty 74-3=71. Ball Pool went to Meagan Taylor 90-17=73, Ange Giouzellis 104-31=73, Shirl Jenner 96-22=74, Olive Spitty 73+1=74.
NTP’s went to Olive Spitty Chino’s 9th and Meagan Taylor 13th.
Putting Comp Mabel & Olive Spitty and Shirley Jenner 30 putts.

Thursday R & R Stableford 3rd September

The Day’s winner is Chris Manners with 38 pts. Ball Pool Went to Rob Fabry 36, Jack Hewitt 35, Ron Delamare, Phil Lloyd, Kevin Sambrooks 34, John Pay & Wayne O’Neill 33. NTP’s went to Casey Gillen 3rd, Jack Hewitt 5th, Alan Free 9th, Chris Waterson 13th, Luke Hadfield 16th.
Pen Award went to Alan Free.

27 Members and guests play after some morning showers arrived.
The Monthly Medal winner is Ron Delamare net 70.
Ladies’ winner is Jan Harry 83-12= 71-three ladies played their championship 1st rd~Jan, Deaniee Henderson and Lou Mudgeway.

Ball Pool went to Rhys Kings, Rob Dick 72, Ivan Wild, Scott Harry and Phil Lloyd 73.
Pen Award went to Frank Cianci.
NTP’s went to Gary Service 3rd, Hudson Taylor 9th and John Pay 13th.

Golf finally only Saturday this past week 🙄👏

Saturday Stableford 29th August 2026

Well finally the Kerang Golf Course was open for competition today, 46 members and guests entered and under sunny skies got underway.
The course still has some soggy spots, but the mowers have been out and about. The next problem is going to be Mozzies!

The winner on the day was Mason Dibsdale scoring 38 points and for the ladies it was Mandy Ackland with 34 points. Ball pool went to Luke Hadfield, Steve Phillips, Ivan Wild, L Taylor all 34, Chris Manners, L Corrie, Shane Dibsdale,
H Gitsham all 33 and Chris Waterson 32.
NTP’s went to Kevin Lane 3rd, Chris Manners 5th/13th, David Wood 9th and L Corrie 16th.

News from the course, two weeks worth this week 😉

Wednesday Ladies 5th August 2026

A small field today, but a quality one.
Jan Harry won the day with 80-13=67, from Jan Milne 105-36=69. Nola Robinson won the Chino’s NTP on the 9th and Jan Harry also won the Putting comp with 25 putts.

Thursday R & R Stableford 6 August 2026

24 members and guests played today. The winner was Gavin Teasdale with 41 points. Ball Pool went to Chris Gray 38, Gtaham Wyte, Greg McNeil and Chris Manners 36, Jack Hewitt 35. NTP’s went to Phil Lloyd 3rd, Greg Gin 9th, Chris Gray 13th and Graham Wyte 16th.

Saturday Greenwood Mugge 8th August 2026

38 Members and guests contested for the Greenwood Mugge.
The winner was Peter Jones with 41 points.
Lady winner was Mandy Ackland with 37 points.
Ball Pool went to Aaron Lancaster 38, A Wood, Rhonda Willoughby and Graham Wyte 35, Casey Gillen, Gav Teasdale and Shane Dibsdale 34c/b. Kelvin Free won the Pen Award. NTP’s went to David Wood 3rd, Scott Harry 5th, Blake Shay 9th, Wayne O’Neill 13th and Roger Pay 16th.

No golf for the ladies 😤 as the course was closed due to the heavy 🌧️ bring on Spring 🌻 so the ladies can get out on the golf course.

Thursday R & R Stableford 13 August 2026

The course was reopened for play, with a couple of fairways still very soggy. There were 21 players entering and the days winner was Nick King with 38 points.
Ball Pool went to Phil Lloyd, Shane Dibsdale 35, Chris Manners, Graham Wyte, Brendan Shields 34.
The Pen Award went to Max Wilson.
NTP’s went to Phil Lloyd 3rd and 5th, Nick King 9th, Kevin Lane 13th and Shane Dibsdale 16th.

A good field for today’s event. Captain Brendan Shields won the day with 38 points.
Ball Pool went to Harry Gitsham 37, Keenan Messer 36, Blake Shay, Steve Phillips, Luke Hadfield 35, David Wood 34.
The Pen Award went to Greg Gin.
NTP’s went to Hudson Taylor 3rd, Brian Gibson 5th, 9th/16th Blake Shay.

Wednesday Ladies Par 29th July 2026

7 Ladies ventured out in bright sunlight and really cold conditions to play a Par event. Megan Taylor was the winner coming home square with the card. Rosie Laughlin was -1. Chino’s NTP went to Jan Harry

Thursday R & R Stableford 30th July 2026

23 members and guests played today. The course is in great condition, and it is drying out. Volunteers are continuing with course maintenance in preparation for the fast-approaching Spring.
The winner on the day was Graham Wyte with 41 points (brand new set of irons worked well).
Ball Pool went to Scott Harry 34, Arron Lancaster, Casey Gillen and Tony Laughlin 33, Allan Free 32.
NTP’s went to John Pay 3rd, Wayne O’Neill 5th, Kevin Chase 9th, Casey Gillen 13th and Blake Shay 16th.

40 members and guests played Stroke for the Monthly Medal.

Golf ⛳️ news from the past week

Wednesday Ladies Stableford 22nd July 2026

On a cold cloudy morning, only 6 ladies ventured out for today’s event, sponsored by The Little Shoe Shop.
So far this winter the ladies have not been treated very kindly by the weather gods, the day’s winner was Meagan Taylor with 31 points, followed by Rosie Laughlin with 26 points and Jill Marshall 24 points.
Chino’s NTP went to Michelle Dillon.

Thursday R & R Stableford 23rd July 2026

No fog over the course this morning, which enabled 32 members and guests to enjoy the course.
The winner on the day was Gavin Teasdale with 37 points. Ball Pool went to Luke Hadfield 35, Rob Fabry and Nathan Henry 33, Chris Manners 32, Kevin Lane 31 and Taylor Hudson 30 c/b.

Saturday Stableford 25th July 2026

Only 23 entrants for today’s competition.
The winner on the day was Wayne O’Neill 34 c/b from Chris Manners 34, Rhys Kings, Jack Hewitt and Luke Hadfield 33, Casey Gillen 32c/b.
Ladies’ winner was Deaniee Henderson 26. NTP’s went to B Gibson 3rd, Leo Davies 5th, Rob Fabry 9th, Wayne O’Neill 13th and David Wood 16th.

Wednesday Ladies Stableford 15th July 2026

A small group of 8 ladies played, and the weather was kind to them, this week.
The winner was Meagan Taylor with 35, Nola Robinson 31, Angela Giouzellis, Michelle Dillon, Jan Milne all 25, Rhonda Willoughby 24, Rosemary Laughlin 20 and Jill Marshall 17.
Chino’s NTP went to Nola Robinson.

Thursday R & R Stableford 16th July 2026

A total of 25 members and guests played Stableford. The winners with 35 points were Barry Gladman, followed by Chris Manners, Ron Delamare and Greg Gin, 32 points each, Phil Lloyd 31.
NTP's went to Chris Manners 3rd, Ross Nesbitt 5th, Jack Hewitt 9th, Phil Lloyd 13th. Frank Cianci won the Pen Award.

Saturday Stableford 18th July 2026

On a very cold and foggy day 26 members and guests played Stableford.
The winners were Wayne O’Neill 33, Kevin Lane 33, Olive and Andrew Spitty 32, Rhys Kings and Phil Lloyd 31.

Sandscrape Championship held at Lakeside Golf Club Tuesday 14th July 2026

It was great to see so many of our district Veteran’s turn out to play for the Championship. A total of 31 ladies and men played Stableford. The fairways were well grassed and damp from recent rains.

The Ladies winner was Deanne Free (Kerang GC) with 28 points. The Runner-up was Lisa Brady (Murray Downs GC) with 27. Ball Pool went to Tricia Witney (Lakeside GC) and Marg Moore (Murray DownsGC) both 26.

The Men’s winner was Dennis Pretty (Nyah West GC) 38. Runner-up Kelvin Free (Kerang GC). Ball Pool went to Peter Roberts (Murray Downs GC) 35, Roger Walker 34 (Murray Downes GC), Robert Male (Lakeside GC) and John Manser (Nyah West GC) 32.
NTP’s went to Marg Moore and John Manser 12th, Lisa Zanker and Peter Roberts 3rd, 7th, Tricia Witney and Peter Roberts 18th.
The Pen Awards went to Lorraine Bray and Craig Davies.
Well done to Lakeside on the course presentation and the wonderful lunch.
The next event will be on Tuesday 11 August at Murrabit.

Winter is certainly having an impact on numbers, course also heavy.

A small field of 10 played in thick fog (only 6 finished) for the Monthly Medal with the winner, Nola Robinson 101-29=72.

Thursday golf continues to be a winner with 32 entrants this week.

The threat of rain was the likely reason for the reduced field of 15 playing. The winner of the Mugge is Casey Gillen with 36. Ball Pool went to Nick King 35, Brendan Shields, David Wood 32, The Pen Award went to Kelly Harvey.

Wet wet ⛈️💦week meant very little golf played ☹️

A very short weekly report for this week. No competitions were held on Wednesday or Thursday due to the water on the fairways.

Saturday 4th July 2026

Golf got underway today on some very soggy fairways, after some long awaited rains fell on the course.
It was Monthly Medal Stroke, with Gavin Teasdale scoring 84-13=71 to win the Medal on a countback from Rhys Kings with 95-24=71.
Ladies winner was Shirley Jenner playing off the Red Tees, scoring 86-10=76.
Ball Pool went to Luke Hadfield 81-8=73,
Ron Delamare 88-15=73,
Joel Gray 86-12=74,
Robert Dick 85-10=75.
Pen Award went to Peter Jones on 92 nett.
NTP’s went to Rhys Kings 3rd, Gavin Teasdale 5th, Kevin Lane 9th, David Wood 13th, Robert Dick 16th.
