UNSW Redback Racing

UNSW Redback Racing is a student led project that designs, builds and races an open wheeled race car

Located within the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of New South Wales, the UNSW Redback Racing Formula SAE team welcomes UNSW students from all disciplines across the university. The team designs, constructs and races a small open wheeled race car and competes against all major Australian and international universities at the annual Formula SAE-Australasia competition, run by the Society of Automotive Engineers, Australasia.

Redback Racing would like to thank our valued partner and their Ansys software suite. Ansys has been an indispensable tool in our development cycle, and our team would not be where we are today without it.

Our engineers have been utilising Ansys CFX to run steady-state fluid simulations in order to analyse aerodynamic performance under controlled conditions. We have also been setting up Ansys Fluent for future simulations. Furthermore, our team has recently begun making use of Ansys optiSLang, which optimises our aerodynamics components by altering parameters and evaluating their performance over numerous simulations, automating the task of detailed fine tuning.

We are incredibly grateful to LEAP Australia for their contributions to our team, and we thank them for their continued support.
