Jondene 2025 Ekka results

Jondene Twinkle 46 (1st/2nd pictures): Reserve Champion fat + protein cow and Reserve Champion production cow with 42.66 litres at 4.12% fat and 3.12% protein over 24hours. As well as 2nd in 5-6year old in milk.

Jondene Marlene 5 (3rd picture): 2nd in aged cow in milk and 2nd in cow 3years old and over best udder and attachment

Jondene Illawarra. Kids day out at Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show, Airlie and Brock Johnston and Julian Cork with Jondene Twinkle 46. Thanks to Jason and Krystle Johnston and Susan Cork for their help making it a fun show for the kids.

Jason Smith cows are in great condition and have settled in well after the long trip (in total 35hrs with 5hr spell in Dubbo). Enjoying the grass.

Geoff Williams, this is a bull I think will have a good future. By Treeton Pimp out of Jondene Barbara 9th. Jondene Barbara 9th was a champion cow at Toowoomba Show and also one of Jocks top production cows. Pictured is his oldest springer heifer. Geoff, he is a big young bull, different from the other Pimps we have in the herd. In the old days he would have been very competitive in the bull classes in Brisbane. I have also acquired some old semen from Mario, Redpath etc and I am working out how best to use it.

Waterford Road won the Exhibition Listed Hcp, 25 yrs ago, at 7yr old. Stan was showing Illawarra dairy cows at the ekka, then raced to Eagle Farm to watch our first stallion win. Trained by Trevor Miller. He produced many handy horses, including Craiglea Warrior, Try Some Magic, Hit the Road, Little Brown Horse.

1st photo - champion cow of the Sunshine Coast Show, Jondene Twinkle 46 (by Jazz) lead by Airlie Johnston. 2nd photo - champion cow, held by Airlie and winner of under 12 month class, Jondene Joslyn 8 (by Jondene Mick) held by Brock Johnston. Jock first started showing at the Sunshine Coast (Nambour) show in 1949 with his brother Wes and sister Muriel with show horses. In the 1963 Nambour show, our father showed our first illawarras with two heifers he purchased from Allen Lawley of Arley Stud at Maleny.

Leaf test on Craiglea river couch. Tom Follett, these are the latest figures on my trial to improve the nutrient value of our natural grass (river couch). The last fertiliser application was on 20 march 24. The young lady who comes and takes the leaf samples name is Laura.
