Q1) How often should I have my racquet restrung?

With 35 years of stringing experience and using the latest technology electronic tension head I take pride in delivering the perfect racquet restring. Select from the best strings available, including:

- Solinco HyperG
- Volkl Cyclone
- Technifibre ATP Razor Code
- Babolat RPM Blast

Drop your racquet in tonight and collect it tomorrow! A1) At least once a year. A general rule of thumb is, if you

play twice a week then string your racquet every 6 months... play three times a week then string your racquet every 4 months. Q2) I want more control, what tension should I use? A2) 2-3lbs higher than the manufacturer's recommended midpoint. you can go tighter, but this is a personal preference and you'll want good technique in to avoid injury. With poly strings, you should consider reducing your tension by 5-10% from what you normally get. Q3) I want more power, what tension should I use? A3) 2-3lbs lower than the manufacturer's recommended midpoint. Many professionals are going lower still, with some professionals having their racquets strung in the low 40s. You'll want solid technique to get the most of string tensions this low.

String Theory just strung this Wilson Hyper Hammer in Head Synthetic . It’s come up nice and firm which will complement the powerful, light racquet and reign in some of that power.

Sweet Volkl Hybrid setup!

A client brought in their RF97A and wanted to try a hybrid set up. We went with:

Mains: Volkl Cyclone 1.23mm @ 50lbs
Crosses: Volkl PowerFibre II 1.32mm @ 53.5lbs

The string pulled up firm but will definitely feel more gentle on the arm than a full bed of poly.

Should offer nice ball pocketing and good string tension maintenance.

It’s been busy here at String Theory. Many thanks to my loyal customers; I focus hard on getting your restrings perfect and I’m grateful that you choose me to string your racquets for you.

Yesterday I installed Solinco HyperG 1.2mm in a pair of Head Graphene Gravity MP Lites at 46lbs, it came up very sweetly. The client is “over the moon” with the pocketing and spin potential of this frame/string combo.

NEWSFLASH: I’m getting in some new string from Solinco: HyperG Soft in 1.2mm and Confidential in 1.2mm. These promise to be a further improvement on some of the best strings in the market.

The Prince Phantom 93P 18/20 is a wonderful racquet which inspires confidence in your shots. It has a tension range of 50lb +/- 5lbs. So how do I determine the right tension for different strings.

- the middle of the tension range is the perfect place to start the calc. ie 50lbs.
- I strung the racquet with Solinco HyperG Poly, so I start by discounting the tension by 10%. Poly as compared to Multifilament or Synthetic gut should be strung 10% lower.
- the string I used had a gauge of 1.2mm (aka 18). Compared to a reference gauge of 1.3mm (aka 16), it is 7.7% thinner. So next I discount the tension by 7.7%.

So my tension is 50lbs x (1 - 0.1) x (1 - 0.077) = 41.5lbs

From this midpoint move up/down between 37lbs (power and rip) to 45.6lbs (control).

Hey folks, I’ve just received some fantastic Solinco Hyper G 1.2mm. This string is phenomenal, particularly in 18x20 string pattern racquets.
