WHY YOU CAN’T REGULATE YOUR EMOTIONS

Ever feel like you just want to be happy but you can’t be?

Growing up, were you told to be happy?

Did you experience sadness and weren’t able to experience it? You had to be happy?

This is a common experience among most people. So when you feel sadness, or disassociated from yourself you think something is wrong with you, you go to the doctor, get diagnosed with depression, and are prescribed a pill to numb yourself from any emotions.

Then you associate yourself with the label the doctor has given you and you start to use this as an excuse as to why you can’t do certain things or why life is so hard for you.

And you are stuck in this cycle/ pattern.

What we are taught is that to experience depression, sadness or any negative emotion is bad and not allowed 🚫

What we need to do is realise that there is a reason why we are feeling this way and see where it comes from and how we can navigate it and process that emotion 🔥

Often we get caught up in wanting to fix things externally when in actual fact we need to fix ourselves.

“I need a better relationship to XYZ” Insert: Food | Money | People | Etc

But in order to have a better relationship with XYZ we need to look at why we don’t have a good relationship with XYZ in the first place.

It all comes back to SELF.

Why do you emotional eat?
Why do you excessively or impulsively spend your money?
Why do you have a short temper?

What is the underlying trauma you need to address and to heal?

Where does this learnt behaviour come from?

Most likely childhood.

So where in your timeline do these things date back too?

With Change Comes Investment

I think the best investment you can make is the one into yourself.

Stop looking at the “cost” and start looking at the investment.

Change your lingo, change your life.

Ask yourself, what things do I need to change to have a better quality of life? Truth is the answers are always within but we have the need for external validation and credit to go do these things.

Something I’ve stopped doing is asking for permission externally and just doing the things I want to do, deepening the trust within each time.

So, are you sick of your own s**t and want to break patterns, cycles and form a better relationship with yourself? Which will form better relationships with others and all things in your life.

Gratitude is an Attitude 🤩

In all seriousness, sometimes to feel grateful it can take time. When you are in the dark knight of the soul the last thing you can actually feel is grateful, you may say things like I am grateful for XYZ but you most likely can’t feel it.

It’s okay!! It will come when you are out of the darkness. You don’t have to put so much pressure on yourself to feel a certain way because when you were growing up you were told you shouldn’t be sad, upset etc these feelings are so normal and there to be experienced in times.

I know for while I struggled to feel gratitude because my spiritual awakening was a wild one but I kept up a regular practice of writing a few things down that I am grateful for and now I can look around me and truly feel grateful for all my journeys, lessons and darkness because it makes me appreciate the light so much more 🦋

Reality of Healing

I understand why people numb themselves to their own pain, why they drink, take drugs, have rebounds, do anything to disconnect to themselves because the truth is healing is hard.

Just when you think you have healed from something, the universe will test you and trigger you to see how you respond.

I can say, it does get easier as you develop skills along the way to manage to guide yourself through, you start to get stronger at managing your responses to your triggers and you can see the truth and the lessons learned.

You may still experience sadness from time to time and that’s okay, we can’t always be happy.

Ride the wave 🌊 and take the time you need, there is no rush to this process.

What you GO through you GROW through

I’ve noticed lately that my capacity to handle stressful events in my life is a lot bigger to what it used to be.

I am well equipped with many experiences and learnings to be able to navigate my emotions, my feelings and how to overcome anything that crosses my path.

I feel Fkn POWERFUL 🦋

My self-awareness, my knowing and my inner guidance is getting stronger and stronger each day and I am here to guide others to be able to reach these levels of consciousness.

When you find your purpose, your passion, yourself and your power, watch people around you and how they respond to you.

You will get people that will tell you that you’re not good enough, you are too young, you need more knowledge, you need more experience blah blah blah 😑

What those people are doing is actually projecting their s**t onto you!!! Don’t listen to them. Do those people pay your bills? Do those people live your life for you? Do those people dictate when you are “qualified”? F**k no!!!

Keep chasing the dreams you desire and don’t let anyone negatively affect you in the process ❤️

What does this mean to you?

What this means to me is standing in your own truth and your own power, always being there for yourself, pushing yourself to do the things you may find challenging but you know will bring growth, not letting yourself get into tricky situations where you don’t want to be or having to rely on others to all the time.

The truth is you need to have your own back through life. Love and support can come externally and that’s a beautiful thing but you need to find it within before finding it externally. Have your own back 🙏

And don’t forget to shine bright ✨
