Hi people, you may or may not know, as part of my role with the Tasmanian Bike Collective I am running the Tas Bike Collective Cycle Challenge in 3 weeks, and we are chasing two more marshals to share the load. If anyone is keen and can help let me know.
We will ensure you have food and caffeine, and any help will be appreciated by the team.

The event is Saturday the 6th of April at Baskerville Raceway.
Also, anyone available on Friday the 5th, while we set up would be also greatly appreciated.
Full event details can be found here.

But if you have any questions let me know.

Cheers DG

I work at the Bike Collective, It's an amazing organisation, we use bicycle workshops to mentor and support 80 young people to re-engage with education, develop fundamental work skills and improve mental and physical health.
Many of these young people come to the Bike Collective because they are facing significant life and learning challenges.

For me seeing kids struggle in school-based learning start to thrive in our programs and see that they have lots to offer is very rewarding.

I was that kid, I was told that because I struggled at school, I would never be able work or achieve anything of any meaning with my life. Thankfully after I left school others believed in me more than my teachers, and my life is now very different from what was forecast. So, I value the what the Bike Collective does because of how important it is for the young people that rock up every week.

I know it’s a bit of a haul for some people out there at moment with increased cost of living pressures, so this share has no expectation or pressure, but if you can help any contribution will mean a lot for the young people in the program.
The Bike Collective needs support to manage a short-term funding shortfall, caused by rising costs. If, like me, you believe young people should be given the opportunity to thrive, and you have the capacity to make a contribution, please make a one-off donation, it will make a huge difference directly benefiting young people in Tasmania.

🚲Mountain bikers spend loads of time outdoors which has many great physical and mental health benefits.
Increasing your sun protection while riding is really important too. Whether you are a gravity hound, XC endurance fiend or just out doing some fitness k's with friends or family it's important to remember to keep yourself protected from skin damage caused by the sun that can lead to skin cancer.

📱Checking the ultraviolet (UV) levels before you head out by downloading the SunSmart UV app is great way to know if you need sun protection. https://www.sunsmart.com.au/resources/sunsmart-app.

🔥Often people use heat as guide, but you can have as much UV on a 16 degree day as you can on a 35 degree day, UV can be damaging on overcast days too.

Over the next few months we will have some practical tips for riders to reduce their exposure to UV.

Kellevie MTB Park Covid-19 statement effective 5:00pm 11/05/2020

Kellevie MTB Park has always been accessible by appointment only, people wishing to ride our trails need to get prior approval and follow the procedures outlined by Park management.
Unfortunately, even with strict Government 'Stay at Home' guidelines, people have been accessing the Park.
This is doubly frustrating for Park management and its volunteers because with all the recent weather, the ground is at saturation point and trails need time to dry out. This continued use has damaged the trail surface and will take time (all volunteered) to fix.
Furthermore, the property is still currently a work site and our team members and trail crew have been working regularly onsite including felling trees.
Access to the property until further notice is strictly limited to Mtn. Trails works crew and Bike Park trail maintenance crew.
We will let everyone know when we can resume normal operation again.
