Please grab a cuppa, this will be long
With the announcement of our clubs AGM, it's come time that I have decided to stand down from my committee role. Six years ago I came on quite green as club secretary and the last 3 as president, it's time for someone else to stand up and guide this great club into the future.
I would like to thank all the members of the committee over the years. When I came on as secretary with Simon as president, I learnt a lot of the club level stuff. One great privilege I had was being involved with people like Nikki, Scotty G, Jack, Jeremy and the rest of the group over those 3 yrs. A huge help as well was Christina Munday , with advice on secretary position, and always being there for a phonecall. Also my IT backup man, Ian Wright with endless help.
With the decision to step into the president role, I had 2 requests, they were to have 2 certain people step on with me, these 2 were Dan Coller and Jordan Isergin , it's with these 2 that we set out on a plan of cementing some improvements into Keilor
#1 was to bring back the Keilor Invitational
#2 to bring on some new events (Twilight and the Enduro)
#3 get the culture back to where it should be, to make it a fun place to be, that everyone is welcome to be involved
#4 build the membership base
#5 open up and bring on more club sponsors
All 5 of those I'm proud to say we have done
The invitational has the buzz back and is better than ever
Memberships, what can I say, we have more than doubled, last 3yrs we have been in the mid 200s
Over the years we have seen our committee people come and go, and I am so grateful for their contributions and friendships, we've learnt quite a lot, stuffed some things up, but kept pushing forward.
We've improved the facility, as the previous committees have, we've built a new track, installed lights for night racing, concreted the undercover pit area, and our most recent is having the rest of the track perimeter asphalted, last one in works right now is replacing our aging timing computer.
It has also been great dealing with the presidents of our other Vic clubs in running our Vic drivers series.
It's also been great to reconnect with the great Polistena family during our Polistena Cup
One major thank you is for my right-hand man the last 3 years, Dan. We have bounced ideas and planning off each other, and had each other's backs, I couldn't have done it without you, best of all, we've become great mates.
To the next committee group, best of luck taking this awesome club on another journey
Last thanks is for my wife, for her support and understanding over the years
I know that was long, but I had quite a few to thank
So for one of the final times
Regards
Michael Bruce
Keilor President
