Dear East Keilor Cricket Club Members,
We are getting closer to another exciting season of Club Cricket and I've been thinking about just how much of our club has been built by volunteers. So much of what happens at East Keilor Cricket Club happens quietly in the background, and it's very easy to take it for granted because it just seems to happen. Then someone decides it's time to step away, and you suddenly realise just how much they've been doing for all those years.
That's why I wanted to take a moment to recognise three people whose contribution has helped shape the East Keilor Cricket Club we know today.
Andrew Dickie, Damian Wingrave and Adrian Hallal have each dedicated countless hours to our club over many years. Between them they have served as Club Presidents, Committee Members, First XI players, mentors and volunteers, while quietly taking on the many jobs that keep a community club running.
Whether it's been preparing Thursday night meals, cooking player lunches on weekends, organising things behind the scenes, supporting players and families, or simply giving up evenings and weekends for the benefit of others, their contribution has been enormous and deserves to be recognised.
After many years of service, Andrew, Damian and Adrian have decided to step away from these roles.
On behalf of East Keilor Cricket Club, I'd really like to thank each of them for their dedication, commitment and the countless hours they have invested in our club. Community sporting clubs simply don't exist without people like these, and we're genuinely grateful for everything they've done over so many years.
As one chapter closes, another begins.
I honestly believe volunteer organisations are at their best when knowledge is passed on, new ideas are welcomed, and the responsibility of running the club is shared across many people rather than carried by just a few.
East Keilor Cricket Club continues to grow. With more junior teams, senior teams, and Blasters participants than ever before, our club is in a really exciting position. But with that growth comes a need for more people to get involved and help lead our club into the future.
We're now looking for members and families who'd like to become involved. Whether it's helping with Thursday night meals, weekend lunches, the canteen, fundraising, events, match-day support or joining the committee, every contribution, big or small, makes a real difference.
You don't need years of experience. You don't need to know everything about running a cricket club. You just need to be willing to lend a hand. There are plenty of people here who'll help you along the way.
If you've ever thought about becoming more involved, I'd really encourage you to have a go. It's a fantastic way to meet people, give something back and help ensure East Keilor Cricket Club continues to be the club we're all so proud to call home.
