My simple answer: Yes.

But should everyone be maxing out and lifting as heavy as possible? Absolutely not.

Deadlifts whether it’s a trap bar, barbell, or off blocks should be in just about everyone’s program. The movement pattern of hinging down and lifting something off the floor shows up in everyday life. Think: Picking up shopping bags, lifting your kid, or grabbing a water bucket while washing the car.

Unless you’re a powerlifter or someone who needs to know their max, there’s no real reason to go near it. Light to moderate weights done with good technique are going to benefit 99% of people more than an ugly max rep ever will.

And age? Not an excuse. Whether you’re just starting out in your teens or still training in your 80s or 90s learning how to lift properly benefits everyday life.

Start. with. machines. They’re not just for rehab or warmups they’re actually one of the smartest ways to begin your strength journey.Machines guide your movement, reduce the risk of injury, and help you focus on how to train without feeling overwhelmed by balance, coordination, or setup. Most even come with diagrams that show you exactly what to do and even what muscle group you’ll be targeting. Simple, effective, and confidence building. You’re not any less of a lifter for using machines, you’re laying the groundwork for future progress. Strong foundations make strong lifters.Free weights will still be there when you’re ready and you’ll hit them better because of this.

MOTICATION VS DISCIPLINE

Motivation serves as a powerful tool to start your fitness journey, often coming from externally from social media, friends, or influential figures. However, relying solely on external motivation can prove unreliable. When these sources are absent from your daily routine, you may find it difficult to stay committed to going to the gym or exercising regularly.

Whereas discipline originates from within and extends beyond the need for external motivation. As you progress along your fitness journey, exercise naturally integrates into your lifestyle as a consistent habit. At this stage, motivation plays a secondary role, helping you overcome specific challenges such as achieving personal bests or attempting new skills.

Using both motivation and discipline is extremely beneficial for achieving and sustaining fitness goals over the long term. They provide the strength needed to navigate obstacles and setbacks that could otherwise setback your progress.

START RIGHT NOW!

Stop putting it off, stop saying I'll start Monday, Next week or next month. Just start.

If it's the gym, dieting or even taking up walking. Just start. Use the motivation when it is present and take the first step. Waiting till the time or day you've set will allow you time to procrastinate, make excuses and push your start date back again and again.

TAKE THE LEAP AND START!
