U14 Girls Shine at Nunawading Tournament

The girls opened their Melbourne road-trip against Coburg Giants and despite a 32-16 loss, played an outstanding game of basketball. Throughout the weekend, the team faced bigger and highly competitive opponents, including two more Victorian powerhouses, Knox Raiders and Kellor Thunder, while also taking on Hawkesbury Jets and Norths Bears from the NSW Metro Junior League.

While the results didn't always go our way, the girls never stopped competing. Their resilience, toughness and willingness to battle for every possession were on display in every game. The tournament was physical, fast and demanding, but our girls embraced every challenge. Whether diving on loose balls, fighting through pressure defence or getting back up after hard contests, they showed the grit and determination that Blue Mountains basketball is known for.

The tournament was an outstanding opportunity for growth. The girls experienced a new level of speed, pressure and intensity and embraced every challenge that came their way. They represented the Blue Mountains with pride, sportsmanship and determination, earning the respect of coaches, opponents and spectators alike.

The lessons learned, friendships strengthened and confidence gained from competing against some of Australia's strongest junior programs will stay with this group for a long time.

A special thank you must go to Team Manager Amanda Watts, whose leadership of the team's logistics and fundraising initiatives helped make the Melbourne trip possible. We also acknowledge the commitment of the coaching staff, parents and volunteers whose time, effort and support ensured the girls had the opportunity to compete on one of Australia's biggest junior basketball stages.

We are incredibly proud of our U14 Girls. Their resilience, toughness and team-first attitude embodied everything that Blue Mountains Magic basketball stands for.

🏀🔥 WHAT A WEEKEND FOR BLUE MOUNTAINS MAGIC AT JMCT! 🔥🏀

The John Martin Country Tournament has brought the curtain down on another representative season for Blue Mountains Magic, and what a way to finish!

Across the weekend we saw outstanding performances from all of our teams, including an undefeated group stage, a thrilling 20-point comeback, and a number of tense 1 point games; but most importantly, valuable development opportunities across the entire program.

We were also proud to have Leo Dankwerts, Corey Honey, Brendan Martin and Henry Sutton representing the association as referees, with a special congratulations to Leo on his selection to officiate the U12 Girls Division 2 Grand Final.

A huge thank you to our players, coaches, team managers, referees, volunteers, families and supporters for everything you have contributed throughout the season. Your commitment and passion continue to make Blue Mountains Magic something special.
