💙💛❤️ Remember, We Are All Volunteers ❤️💛💙
As the season progresses, it's a good time to remember something that is often forgotten...
Every coach, manager, League Safe, First Aid Officer, referee, committee member, canteen volunteer, grounds person, and executive is a volunteer.
Some volunteers give an hour a week. Others give 40. Many spend their evenings, weekends, and holidays planning, organising, communicating, attending meetings, completing compliance, preparing fields, managing teams, and solving problems behind the scenes.
For our players, a rugby league season might last around six months.
For many volunteers, it is 11 months of planning, preparation, and sacrifice to make those six months a positive experience for our kids.
Most volunteers are balancing club commitments alongside full-time jobs, family responsibilities, and their own personal lives. Yet they continue to show up because they care about the players and the community they are helping to build.
At times, volunteers are required to enforce rules, policies, and procedures. These aren't rules they create themselves; they are requirements put in place to keep our players safe, ensure clubs remain compliant, and allow competitions to operate successfully.
Whether you're a parent, player, coach, League Safe, referee, committee member, or supporter, please remember that every person wearing club colours is doing their best.
And this isn't just about our club.
It's about every club.
Every weekend, across every field, volunteers are giving their time so children can play the game they love.
So next time you see a volunteer—whether it's at your club or another club—take a moment to remember that they're doing their best. Have some understanding, show a little patience, keep the attitude in check, and be pleasant. Volunteers aren't asking for recognition, they're simply giving their time so our kids can enjoy the game they love.
Because without volunteers, there is no game.
