🌟 Calling Women in STEM – Be a Mentor. Be an Inspiration. 🌟

Goldfields STEM, in collaboration with Curtin University / Western Australian School of Mines, is hosting a Girls in STEM event and we are looking for women working in STEM-related careers to volunteer as mentors 💛

We’re inviting professionals from all STEM fields, including (but not limited to):
👩‍⚕️ Nurses & health professionals
🧠 Physios
👷‍♀️ Engineers
💻 IT & tech
📊 Finance
🔬 Science
🚁 Mining & resources
…and many more!

✨ What’s involved?
No planning. No presentations. No prep required.
You’ll simply work with a small group of girls, chat with them, answer their questions, and share your career journey - how you got there, what you love about your job, and what STEM looks like in the real world.

⏰ Time: 10:00am – 1:00pm

🚁 VEX DRONE COMPETITIONS ARE TAKING OFF IN AUSTRALIA! 🚁

2026 marks an exciting milestone! The very first year Australia will host VEX Drone competitions, and Goldfields STEM is proud to be forming an inaugural VEX Drone team to compete in Perth!

Designed for Year 9–12 students, VEX Drone challenges students to plan, code and fly autonomous drones in competition-style missions.

Participants develop real-world, industry-relevant skills including programming, systems thinking, problem solving, teamwork and communication - the same skills increasingly used across mining, engineering, automation and technology careers.

For students in the Goldfields, this is a rare opportunity to access world-class STEM competition pathways usually only available in metropolitan areas and to represent our region on a state (and potentially national) stage.
