Welcome to 2026 EGHA Grand Final Day!

The turf has been swept, the sun is shining, the canteen & bar are stocked, the coolroom has been delivered, and the post game party venues are all set up!

All that is left is for the whistle to sound at 130pm, then memories will be created that last forever! Premiership glory, its so close but yet so far, who will be the hero for their team...by 730pm tonight all will have played out right in front of your eyes!

Respect and admire those that take a whistle today, as they are sacrificing their GF day to ensure we can all enjoy some captivating hockey!

Drink responsibly, do not smoke or v**e in our venue, and definitely no BYO! Its up to all of us to educate our family and friends on these simple rules!

🏑 A1 MEN GRAND FINAL – NORTHS v CBC

And then there were two...

Grand Final Day finishes under lights with the big one, Norths vs CBC for the 2026 A1 Men's Premiership.

Norths finished the regular season on top, recording 11 wins, two draws and just one loss from their first 14 recorded matches, with 55 goals scored and only 15 conceded. CBC sat second with nine wins and 44 goals of their own.

But forget the ladder now.

Because CBC have broken Norths hearts on Grand Final Day before, and there are several blokes wearing red, white and blue tomorrow who know exactly how to do it again.

Norths will be led into battle by the newly crowned 2026 O'Shaughnessy Medallist and Leading Goal Scorer, Jake Prunster. The former Premier League player has been outstanding, and if Norths are to be victorious tomorrow, you suspect Prunster's stick will have something to say about it.

Behind him, 7 x O'Shaughnessy Medallist Nick Lavery provides leadership and versatility through defence and midfield, with a slap pass capable of opening the ground in an instant.

The Rampant Lions also welcome Chris Souchon back from a hamstring injury. The WA Country representative possesses a wicked drag flick and an aerial that can completely change the point of attack, although every Norths supporter will presumably hold their breath the first time he stretches that hammy!

Then there's brother Matt Souchon, playing what could be his final game for Norths before relocating to Bunbury. Quick, supremely fit and armed with a tomahawk that goalkeepers would rather not see winding up inside the circle, there would be no better way for him to sign off.

And keep an eye on youngsters Jenson Holdaway and Keaton Marx. The J9/12 boys experienced Grand Final heartbreak last weekend and now get another crack at Premiership glory alongside the seniors. Two seriously talented young hockey players who will have absolutely no fear of the occasion.

In goals, junior keeper Nathan Best faces his biggest assignment yet. He's an enormous presence in the cage, and tomorrow night could be the making of him.

But standing opposite Norths is a CBC side with some serious Grand Final weaponry.

Leium Bernhardt has broken Norths hearts before. A freakish goal scorer with a knack for producing when it hurts most, the Norths defenders will know exactly where he is...or at least they'd better should I say!

Ryan Connor brings a dangerous drag flick, an eye for goal and the ability to pick out the long outlet, while Sam Everett gives CBC silky skills and genuine speed through the midfield.

Neil Walsh has stepped into A1 this year and been solid as a rock at the back. He'll run, tackle and put his body on the line for as long as required. Nigel Crook will also be on hand to use his drag mark aerial pass to thrust CBC into attack time and time again!

Then there is Sam McGinty.

The 2025 O'Shaughnessy Medallist (3 timer) is the sort of player who can win a game off his own stick. Brave, skillful and possessing a vicious tomahawk, he is exactly the bloke the opposition don't want receiving the ball with space when the clock is disappearing late in a Grand Final.

And finally, guarding the CBC cage is Brenton Snell.

He's been the hero before. His reflexes are outstanding, and if Snell gets his eye in early and starts turning shots away, Norths could be in for a very long evening.

So there it is.

Prunster. Bernhardt. McGinty. The Souchons. Lavery. Connor. Holdaway, Marx. Snell. Best. Experienced campaigners alongside young men who have earned the right to call September theirs!

Norths have been the team to beat in 2026.

CBC have absolutely no intention of asking permission.

One game. One Premiership. And the final chapter of the 2026 EGHA season will be written under lights at the Goldfields Hockey Stadium.

🏑 A1 WOMEN GRAND FINAL – CBC v NORTHS

Now we start getting into the serious end of proceedings!

At 4:30pm two great rivals meet again as CBC and Norths battle for the A1 Women's Premiership, and there is quality absolutely everywhere you look.

Perhaps the best storyline is sitting right in the middle of the park.

CBC Captain Jane Puckett, a Carter Medal winner and one of the competition's premier midfielders, comes up against Norths star Zoey Prunster, the 2026 Carter Medallist. Two brilliant hockey players, two enormous influences on their respective teams, and both capable of changing a Grand Final in a couple of touches.

CBC won't be relying on Puckett alone.

Kirst Smith is dangerous around goal, while talented junior Mia Dellar returns from her Perth commitments to pull on the CBC colours for her home club when it matters most.

At the back, Cassie Meenaghan brings a big hit, a strong tackle and plenty of defensive steel, while goalkeeper Mel Wood has arguably the simplest job description of the entire afternoon...stop everything!

Norths certainly won't make that easy.

Rosey Pearce provides a genuine target up front, Hayley Bradshaw is ridiculously fit and will seemingly appear at every contest, while talented junior Cate Roberts brings another set of young legs that can run all day.

But one of Norths' most important players could be Captain Anna-lee Taylor.

Taylor is a key pillar of the Rampant Lions' defence, possesses one of the competition's best tackles and, every now and then, will look up and launch an aerial over the press just to make everybody turn around and run the other way. Her battle with the CBC attack could be pivotal.

And behind her stands Jayde Newman.

Newman is as strong a goalkeeper as they come and has been a pillar for Norths. In a Grand Final where opportunities may be few and far between, one Newman save could be the difference between heartbreak and a Premiership.

Two quality sides. Two outstanding midfields. Dangerous strikers. Strong keepers.

And only 68 minutes of hockey separates them from Premiership glory!

🏑 A2 MEN GRAND FINAL – NORTHS v MINES

At 3:00pm the A2 Men take centre stage, with Norths taking on Mines for the 2026 Premiership!

Norths have been the benchmark for much of 2026 and have had the better of Mines in their meetings this season. But there's one rather important difference tomorrow...none of those previous results are carrying a Premiership with them!

Norths engine room contains the two men who finished at the pointy end of the Association awards. Brad Daddow enters the game as the 2026 EGHA Fairest & Best, while Michael Scruth finished Runner-Up. Both can run all day, both are crucial through the middle, and both will have enormous targets on their backs from the opening whistle.

Brad Landwehr will play his trade at right half, while seasoned defender Aaron Robinson brings experience and composure behind the ball.

And then there's young Maddockson Bowen. The junior speedster provides Norths with some serious wheels out wide, and tired defenders late in a Grand Final generally don't enjoy seeing a teenager disappearing down the wing!

Mines, however, have plenty of weapons of their own.

Captain Brendan Reibling is a proven goal scorer and will need to lead from the front, while Tim Work will seemingly run until somebody turns the stadium lights off. Jaudin Diprose provides quality at half back, with veteran Craig Lawler charged with marshalling the troops behind him.

But perhaps the biggest key to a Mines upset sits right at the back.

Chris Sutcliffe!

If Sutcliffe has one of those games in goals, Mines can absolutely win this. Finals hockey can turn on two or three brilliant saves, and Norths will know that getting past him early could be crucial.

The form book says Norths.

Mines will be delighted to know that form books cannot hold hockey sticks.

🏑 A2 WOMEN GRAND FINAL – CBC v NORTHS

Grand Final Day gets underway with a beauty, as CBC and Norths square off for the A2 Women’s Premiership!

There will be plenty of experience on the park when these two sides meet, but also a healthy dose of talented juniors who probably haven't yet learnt that Grand Finals are supposed to make you nervous!

CBC will look to Kirsty Dellar to bring the toughness and experience, while Kylie Reed knows exactly where the goals are and will need to be watched closely. Teagan Robinson will be important through the midfield, while talented junior Kathryn Lumsden gets an opportunity on the big stage.

Down the other end, Kira Landers could have a massive say in where the Premiership ends up. Grand Finals have a habit of producing goalkeeping heroes, and if Norths get on top and start peppering the circle, Landers may need to become a brick wall for an hour or so!

For Norths, it's impossible to go past Nicole Foo, who comes into the Grand Final having claimed back-to-back EGHA Fairest & Best honours. She'll be central to just about everything the Rampant Lions do, while Renae Clarke gives them plenty down the right and Ryse Coburn will be tasked with keeping things calm and organised at the back.

Up front, Nikki Norrish loves finding the back of the old onion bag and will be hoping to hear that familiar thud or swish at least once tomorrow!

There is also a great little Grand Final subplot in the Norths goals, with former keeper Ellie Kinninmont pulling the pads back on when it matters most. No pressure Ellie...it's only a Grand Final! 😬

Norths also bring a smattering of juniors into the side, and there's nothing quite like watching young players get a taste of senior Grand Final hockey.

CBC v Norths. Experience, youth, quality at both ends and a Premiership on the line.
