This guy was created to suck!

Maybe we all are?

What if this expectation and quest for perfection is killing our sense of adventure? Our sense of living life to the fullest?

Earlier in the day before I saw this sucking fish I jumped into a bootscooting mini class that was on offer to anyone who dared to be bold enough to try.

Now there aren't too many things that I won't try at least in my head. But sometimes the fear of sucking aka not being amazing the first time I attempt this something and therefore looking completely ridiculous stops me from jumping in with my two feet and my very enthusiastic heart.

Fear.

The fear of looking stupid.

The fear of not being an ace at something I've never spent any time or effort trying to master.

And then it made me think about all those Olympic athletes. How many of them didn't win a medal, didn't "succeed" in the eyes of people who they have never met.

Imagine if they had never allowed themselves to suck?

It's not just No Olympics. But think of all the other amazing skills and development and adventures they would have missed out on.

Now try the same thought experiment, except replace that Olympian with you.

What are you missing out on because you are scared to embrace that we were all born to suck (when we try something new)?

I went for a walk the other day and these 3 leaves stood out from all the rest.

They were such a bright green.

And thin enough that the sun light was able to shine through.

Then I saw the thing that's normally unseen. The veins that keep those leaves green and bright and alive. 🍃

Have you ever had a moment that makes you stop and appreciate the hidden things/ people/ character traits that keep you juiced and feeling alive?

A thought... why can't everyday feel like a weekend? Why can't we live a life that's got the fun and freedom of the weekend...?

Is it a mindset?
Is it because we're trained to expect a certain thing from the week vs the weekend?

Maybe it could be more like life on holiday vs life at home... we love holidays but at some point (for some of us home bodies) there comes a point where it's time to come home.

Could we find a way of looking at the week where it feels more like coming home than whatever we ascribe to it currently?

Not sure... like I say just a thought...

Don't let the potential monotony of the grind of life take away your ability to find joy in the little things.

Tip: Take 1 day off a week to reset and rest after the busy week. Focus on gratitude, slow down, decompress, disconnect and enjoy.

🌟I attended a gardening workshop and learned so many tips about how to grow your own food. 🌱

Thanks to Tim and Shani from Ecoburbia it was so interesting and as a bonus we got to enjoy some really lovely music 🎶

🔋 I'm looking forward to recharging my batteries because after the busy week that was I need a rest and reset

The other day I enjoyed a first for me, a delicious nandos chicken burger.

The box came with so many labels 🏷 describing what I was to expect from it on the inside.

I had great expectations!

And they were exceeded.

I've thought a lot about the labels we give ourselves, each other, things, and experiences.

Have you ever stopped to think how you introduce yourself to new people?

Often we go by what we "do" - as in our profession, our job, our career. But aren't humans so much more than just one thing?

Just like the nandos burger. The labels we give ourselves can create expectations, real experiences, and limitations of who and what we believe we are truly capable of becoming.

So maybe next time you introduce yourself try a new label, test it out, see how it feels to be more than just a job title...
