On 29 August, our Hockey Club will be running a canteen day at the turf next to ALAC, and we'd love the support of the wider Griffins community.

Whether you stop by for a sweet treat or lunch, donate an item, drop in to cheer on one of our teams, or lend a hand as a volunteer, every contribution makes a difference and helps support this important fundraising event.

Our canteen fundraising day is coming up, and we’re calling on our fantastic members and families to help make it a success!

We’re looking for volunteers to lend a hand on the day, as well as donations of sweet treats and other goods to help stock the canteen.

As our major fundraiser for the year, every contribution makes a difference. You don’t need to commit to the whole day, just an hour or two can help.

Many hands make light work!

Calling all basketballers! This one is for you.

Expressions of Interest to nominate for the 2026/2027 basketball season are now open!

Nominations will be closing on 24th August 2026 and cost $15.

*Returning Griffins players and new Griffins EOI:*
Players who previously played for Griffins, or are new and would like to play for Griffins, are invited to submit an expression of interest (EOI) to return for the upcoming season via the link below:

Our Change of Season Meeting is on Monday 8th June, 6:30pm at Due South, 6 Toll Place, Albany, upstairs meeting room. All welcome 😊🏀

If you can help out in the upcoming season, please consider joining our committee or be a general helper. There is a lot of scope to share jobs too. The more of us in our helper pool, the better!

For those unable to attend in person who would like to remotely join the meeting via Microsoft Teams please keep an eye on the WhatsApp Announcements, a meeting invite link will be postes there closer to the event.

🏑 Hockey season is officially underway!

Our Griffins hockey season opener kicked off yesterday and it was such a great start to the season — plenty of smiles, energy, and awesome team spirit all around.

They play a huge role in supporting Griffins each year, helping us keep our club running strong. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 & 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗩𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘆

Many of you will know Karen, who has been a friendly, committed, and passionate presence in the Griffins Office for the last 2+ years. Karen will soon be stepping away from her staff role to focus on other commitments.

Karen has made an incredible impact on Griffins - not only as a team member, but also as a volunteer and a true culture champion. While we will absolutely miss her in the office, we’re grateful she’ll still be part of the Griffins family. With all five members of her household continuing to play, coach, and volunteer, we’re certainly not saying goodbye!

We are now recruiting an Administration Officer (10 hours per week) to join our team.

GSAS is excited to invite all Great Southern coaches to a free professional development workshop focused on one of the most important skills in coaching - communication.

Presented by Ian Crawford, How to Communicate So Athletes Listen, Trust & Perform is a practical session suitable for all levels of coaches, from beginners through to experienced coaches.

We’ll explore:
✔ how athletes actually receive information
✔ why good coaching advice is sometimes ignored
✔ simple communication strategies you can use immediately

This is a great opportunity to improve your influence and connect with coaches from a wide range of sports in our region.
