💜 Remember September Update 💜

As many of you know, throughout September a team of adults from Unified Martial Arts are each walking 78km to honour the 78 Australians who lose their lives to pancreatic cancer every week, while raising funds for vital pancreatic cancer research.

When we started this challenge, we set ourselves a fundraising goal of $2,000. We are only halfway through the month, have logged a lot of kilometres, and thanks to your incredible generosity, we've already reached our goal!

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us so far. Your donations and encouragement mean a lot to our team and to the important research being funded through this campaign.

We're still walking, and just because we've reached our goal doesn't mean we're going to stop raising funds. Every additional dollar helps support research that could make a real difference in the fight against pancreatic cancer.

If you'd like to support the Unified Martial Arts team, or simply contribute to a charity doing important work, we'd be incredibly grateful.

💛 R U OK? Day 💛

Martial arts teaches us many things: confidence, resilience, discipline and perseverance.

One of the most important lessons, however, is looking out for each other.

Today is a reminder that a simple conversation can make a real difference. If a friend, family member, training partner or colleague has been on your mind, take a moment to check in.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can say is:

"Are you OK?"

At UMA, we're proud to be more than just a martial arts club. We're a community, and communities look after one another.

💛🥋💛

💜 Remember September Starts Tomorrow 💜

Most years the adult members of Unified Martial Arts have got together to complete the Push-Up Challenge to raise money for mental health. This year, we are doing something different. Tomorrow we start the Remember September Challenge.

Throughout September, we will be walking 78km each to honour the 78 Australians who lose their lives to pancreatic cancer every week and to raise funds for vital pancreatic cancer research.

This challenge is particularly meaningful to Kaiso Sam, who lost his father, to pancreatic cancer in 2019. In support of everyone affected by this devastating disease, our team will be stepping up to make a difference.

If you'd like to support the Unified Martial Arts team or simply contribute to a charity that's working to make a real difference, we'd be incredibly grateful.

🥋 Bullying No Way Week: Small Acts, Big Impact

This week is Bullying No Way Week, Australia's leading initiative for bullying prevention in schools. This year's theme is "Small Acts, Big Impact."

At UMA, we take a strong stand against bullying. Martial arts should only ever be used as a last resort for self-defence.

We're also strong believers that small acts really do make a big impact. Whether it's helping a training partner learn a technique instead of showing off that you've already mastered it, encouraging a new student, or simply looking out for each other on the mats.

Respect isn't taught in a single lesson. It's something that develops over time when people train together, support each other, and learn to treat others with kindness.

If you've got a child who's struggling with confidence, or if you're an adult who could use a bit more positivity, respect and community in your week, you know where to find us.

A Special Thank You!

As many of you know, Gabby and I welcomed our beautiful daughter, Clementine, into the world two months ago.

With both of us adjusting to life as new parents, we took some time away from the dojo to focus on surviving the newborn trenches! 😴🍼

I'm back in action now and Gabby is itching to jump back on the mats as soon as she can, so keep an eye out for her!

During my time off, the dojo was left in very capable hands. A huge thank you to Malcolm, Wayne, Josh and Brampton for stepping up and running classes, and to Bernice for helping keep the admin side of things organised.

I'm incredibly proud of how everyone came together to keep UMA running smoothly while I was away. It really reminded me that UMA is more than just a martial arts dojo, it's a great group of people who genuinely support one another.

Gabby, Clementine and I are incredibly grateful for all the kind messages, well wishes and support we've received.

Thank you all for being part of the UMA family. ❤️🥋

😷Training Cancelled 😷

Unfortunately training tonight is cancelled. I’ve come down quite unwell, and we haven’t been able to organise another Kaiso to cover tonight’s session.

Apologies for the inconvenience! I’ll rest up and we should be back in action next week!

A few weeks ago we held a grading, and students got to show just how much their hard work and dedication has paid off.

Awesome technique, great energy, and plenty of proud moments all around — such a brilliant day!

Keep training, stay consistent, and chase that next belt… you’ll be rocking a black belt before you know it 🥋

Adult training lately has been all about sharpening our sparring skills. It’s all drills, footwork, and just a touch of friendly chaos. No one was harmed… well, not seriously. Let’s go! 🥋💪
