A beautiful first day on our open water diver course at Horseshoe Bay, Bowen. 🐠

Excellent Visibility, vibrant corals and colourful critters on show.

Our divers saw an Olive sea snake, the first of the winter season sited and commonly seen in certain areas of Bowen. They can breathe up to 2 hours underwater before surfacing, spend their entire lives underwater, and are naturally curious creatures.🐍

Congratulations to Shaun and Chris for completing their PADI Rescue diver course with Whitsunday Dive Club 🎉

Our divers learned important rescue skills and apply them in open water through scenarios such as; panicked diver, missing diver, an unresponsive diver at the surface, and emergency oxygen administration.👌

We finished the course on the final day with dives at Stonehaven Bay, Cockatoo Point, Butterfly Bay at Hook Island. ✨

Our normal Whitsunday winter weather has resumed, the water temperature being a toasty 24 degrees today 🌅

Here's to an amazing 2 dives finishing the PADI Advanced open water diver course on the world-famous SS Yongala shipwreck with Whitsunday Dive Club . ✨

Congratulations Shaun, Ana, and Emily you all rocked it! 🎉

It's coming up to the best time of the year to get your PADI Advanced Open Water on one of the world's most unique dive sites, so don't miss out 🌅

The SS Yongala is a 109 Metre shipwreck that sank in a cyclone on 23 March 1911. The ship lay undiscovered for almost 50 years before being known to be a magnet for marine life. 🧲

Today, our divers saw a beautiful marble ray, Olive Sea Snakes, Turtles, Queensland Groupers, and schools of barracuda around the wreck encrusted with coral. 🚢

And thanks to Yongala Dive for running a smooth, professional dive trip 🐠

Beautiful conditions over the weekend whilst Whitsunday_dive_club joined Red Cat Adventures , Reef Check Australia and a group of local volunteers on their beach clean up and coral reef surveys at Luncheon Bay, Hook Island. 🌅

The team also took the opportunity to carry out maintenance with Reef Ecologic at their coral reef restoration project at Manta Ray Bay.🐟

Great trip out and looking forward to the next trip working with local tourism operators on conservation projects in the whitsundays. 🤙
