Snowy Trout Challenge The Snowy Trout Challenge offers you a chance to make the most of your next Snowy Mountains visit. The same rules apply as in previous years.

SNOWY TROUT CHALLENGE 2025–2026

The Snowy Trout Challenge (STC) is back for another exciting season, giving anglers the chance to win cash prizes just by catching a tagged Rainbow Trout in the Snowy Mountains! This season, anglers who catch any trout with ANY Snowy Trout Challenge tag* can win prizes. With no new STC-tagged fish available due to upgrades at Gaden Trout Hatchery reducing hatchery

and pond capacity, the STC Committee has decided that any previous STC tag can be entered this season. Previously, it was advised that the 2025–26 season was cancelled due to the unavailability of new fish. But now it’s back on!
$1,000 monthly prize draws start from November 30, 2025. Additionally, any anglers who participate in the STC Fish Survey will go into the draw for a $200 cash prize. (Drawn April 30, 2026)

This week we’re celebrating Richard Cornell’s 5-year milestone with Whittens!

Originally from New Zealand, Richard has called Australia home for the past 19 years and now lives on the Gold Coast, QLD. He first took up formwork carpentry to escape working in the cold and now finds himself on a project in the NSW Snowy Mountains!

For Richie, the best part of Whittens is the people. He enjoys working alongside different characters from all walks of life, and the camaraderie that comes with project teams.

Construction manager Brad Cooper describes Richie as a valued long-term employee and a quiet achiever of the crew. “He has always had a head down, backside up mentality with his tasks, while maintaining high safety standards. He’s always good for a laugh and a story. Congratulations mate on your milestone.”

Richie enjoys the balance of the 2:1 roster, giving him time to recharge at home. Away from work, you’ll find him surfing in the summer or playing his acoustic guitar - with a love for every music genre from classical to blues, jazz, and even metal!

Congratulations, Richie, on 5 fantastic years - here’s to many more milestones ahead.
